Job Description

Kwale County is located in south coast of Kenya.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities will entail: –

  • Compiling fisheries statistics and preparing technical reports;
  • Participating in monitoring, control and surveillance of fisheries resources;
  • Providing fisheries extension services including mobilizing and training fishers,
  • Maintaining ponds at fish farms and hatcheries; and conducting fish inspection and quality assurance.
  • Organizing on farm trials on fish species and feed;
  • Assessing fish post-harvest losses;
  • Undertaking applied fisheries research and dissemination of research findings;
  • Undertaking market surveys; and promoting fish marketing and value addition.

REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

  • Served in the grade of fisheries officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service or Private sector for at least three [3] years.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: – fisheries, zoology, Aquatic Sciences, or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in computer application skills form a recognized institution;
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
