Job Description

The National Housing Corporation (NHC) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament Cap. 117. The primary mandate of NHC is to play a principal role in the implementation of the Government’s Housing Policies and Programmes.

NHC Job Grade: 6

Job Specification:

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail:

  1. Directing and coordinating administrative and technical operations of the land survey section;
  2. Supervising and coordinating staff working under him/her;
  3. Preparing documentation to facilitate acquisition of land for project development;
  4. Undertaking cadastral and sectional property surveys to facilitate acquisition of ownership documents for the completed units;
  5. Carrying out Engineering surveys to inform designs and implementation of housing and infrastructure projects;
  6. Undertaking re-establishment of land boundary beacons to facilitate implementation of projects;
  7. Carrying out necessary surveys and prepare documentation to assist in resolution of land boundary disputes affecting NHC properties;
  8. Keeping custody of survey equipment and ensure they are calibrated to required standards; and
  9. Keeping custody of survey records including maps, beacon certificates and reports of legal descriptions of surveys;
  10. Performing any other lawful duties as may be assigned from time to time;

Person Specification:

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  1. At least four (4) years relevant work experience;
  2. Bachelors Degree in Land Survey, Geo-spatial Engineering, Geomatic Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  3. Graduate Member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (I.S.K) or any other recognized professional body in good standing;
  4. Registered by the Land Surveyors Board (L.S.B) of Kenya as Approved Assistant Surveyor;
  5. Supervisory course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution;
  6. Proficiency in computer applications; and
  7. Fulfills the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution.
