Job Description

To ensure regulatory requirements are upheld and thatconstant maintenance quality standards and organization quality procedures areapplied to Kenya Airways aircraft to the end that an airworthy, reliable,quality product is provided and that this is done in a cost-effective manner.Also responsible for maintaining an independent Quality System and facilitatingcompliance monitoring. Supervise and offer guidance and development ofMaintenance Safety Quality Coordinators in execution of their roles.

Detailed Description        

  • Conducts planned and ad-hoc audits/inspections/spot checks/surveys individually or under guidance of Safety and Quality Manager of all aircraft and aircraft maintenance activities at Base, Line stations and any contracted sites carried out for Kenya Airways and provide written reports.
  • Carry out detailed oversight for the material supply and storage system including facilities and records; based on audits carried out by Technical Quality Assurance as delegated.
  • Provide guidance to Maintenance Safety Quality Coordinator(s) in conduction planned and ad-hoc audits/inspections/spot checks/ surveys and review and approve provided reports.
  • Assess the data gathered by self or Maintenance Safety Quality Coordinator(s) during these audits/inspections/spot checks/surveys and communicate any discrepancies in writing to responsible managers. These will be in the form of a formal report detailing any findings, which must be addressed with corrective action and the time frame in which it must be achieved.
  • Follow up and verify audit closure actions. Monitor the effectiveness of any corrective action from the feedback and by direct surveillance.
  • Ensure follow up on audits carried out by Maintenance Safety Quality Coordinator(s) and completion of all actions in the audit management system.
  • Review prepared applications to the Authority for Certificate of Airworthiness, Certificate of Registration and radio license certificates issue/renewal for accuracy and completeness.
  • Oversee the review of aircraft airworthiness status by ensuring maintenance program, reliability program and EDTO procedures are adhered to.
  • Review for accuracy and completeness of extension requests for maintenance program and MEL items.
  • Analyze Maintenance Quality Airworthiness statistics and events relevant to Maintenance Quality and develop Fleet Notices/MEMOs/Bulleting and produce reports on the same for Management review through the Manager Maintenance Safety and Quality (AOC).
  • Provide data to manager Maintenance Safety & Quality (AOC) on quality matters as required.
  • Review for completeness and accuracy the database for maintenance approvals for contracted maintenance organizations providing maintenance services to KQ Aircraft and Components. Recommend and initiate the renewal process.
  • Oversee processing and availing of aircraft and related documentation/certificates manuals and other technical information appropriate to the aircraft type and ensuring accuracy and currency at base and line stations.
  • Handle/Facilitate/Liaise and respond to external auditors including regulatory authorities as will be assigned by the Maintenance Safety and Quality Manager (AOC)
  • Assess/ Examine/ Carry out competence review for Maintenance Quality Coordinators for the purpose of issuance of Kenya Airways Authorizations as applicable.
  • Carry out any other duties within the AOC Maintenance Section so desired by the Manager.

Job Requirements        

  • Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Aeronautical /Mechanical /Electrical / Electronic Engineering or related course.
  • Has knowledge in using standard aircraft manuals and engineering procedures manual.
  • Conversant with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Has knowledge of aircraft systems.
  • Completed training as an auditor.
  • Completed Training in Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Has leadership and supervisory training/ demonstrated knowledge and experience.
  • An aircraft systems training will be an added advantage.
  • Must have completed KQ graduate engineer trainee program/equivalent with at least 3 years aviation experience. OR must have relevant engineering degree with at least 5 years aviation engineering experience. OR Must have Diploma in relevant Engineering field with at least 8 years aviation maintenance experience.
  • Fully conversant with all relevant regulatory requirements
  • Fully conversant with relevant technical procedures
  • Has demonstrated knowledge of Quality System processes. Quality assurance experience is an added advantage.
  • Has demonstrated experience in report writing.
  • Has knowledge of Industrial Safety Standards
  • Conversant with relevant IT Tools and Systems
  • Has knowledge in statistical analysis.
  • Has experience and exposure in external and regulatory audits.
  • Has experience in supervising tasks or projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in aircraft delivery and redelivery is an added advantage.
