Senior Manager, Quality of Implementation (Africa & Europe)

POSITION SUMMARY:

At the Rainforest Alliance, we are looking for a team builder, impact-driven leader to lead all aspects of the operation of the Rainforest Alliance offerings in the countries within their scope of work. This position ensures that the Africa Quality of Implementation team operates efficiently and effectively with a strong collaboration with local teams and other colleagues to achieve the success of the Products to be implemented. Addresses the challenges between on the ground reality and Assurance related work in Africa, and channels them to the other managers.

The official job title for this role would be: Team Manager, Quality of Implementation, which is the equivalent level of a Senior Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Rainforest Alliance’s Core Values are Impact, Change, Collaboration, Openness and Trust and as such they form the basis of the behaviours we demonstrate;
  • Represents the Africa & Europe Quality of Implementation team in internal and external meetings;
  • Identifies the need and leads the creation of contextualized policies, rules, procedures, guides and exceptions.
  • Collaborate in the alignment of the region as stipulated by the Quality of Implementation leader.
  • Proactively supports, answers question, give information and advice to the local teams, departments heads, CBs and CHs on the RA standards and implementation of the Assurance Systems Rules.
  • Provides training, support and aligned interpretation to assurance providers and internal teams on the Rainforest Alliance offerings and their rules;
  • Engages with relevant internal and external stakeholders to anticipate, address and follow up on reputational risk cases;
  • Contributes to identify key sector or country-specific challenges, and to the development of risk assessments and specific action plans related to the offerings;
  • Leads consultation processes and permanently gathers feedback from internal and external stakeholders about our offerings criteria and their assurance systems;
  • Review periodically the operational risks of the region to ensure that key risks are appropriately managed;
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. This include hiring; mentoring and evaluating; guiding professional development opportunities; and addressing employee relations issues.
  • Strengthen the team’s capabilities and monitor its performance against a range of performance indicators; and
  • Other duties, as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Degree in environmental or social sciences.
  • Work experience: Demonstrated ability (7 years’) in second or third-party sustainability systems related to agriculture or forestry.
  • Leadership/ People Management skillset, with management experience for at least 5 years leading diverse and multicultural teams.
  • Foreign Language Skills: Fluency verbal and written communication skills in English, preferably good knowledge of French.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive manner.
  • Strong Stakeholder Management, with excellent interpersonal skills to interact culturally, linguistically, and diplomatically with diverse people;
  • Initiative, self-motivated, resourceful, detail-oriented, dependability, strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated capacity to communicate impacts in a visually appealing way and that focuses on the key information required; and
  • Extraordinary commitment, energy and a positive mindset.
