Job Description

Avenue Hospital was founded in 1995 for the purpose of managing the outpatient department at the Hospital, and to extend medical services to corporate clientele through an innovative concept of Managed Healthcare.

Job Objective/Purpose

Provide and ensure quality Radiology services within the Avenue Group in line with the company policies and procedures

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform imaging procedures on patients to meet the established practice parameters and standards of care.
  • Process and print quality and appropriate radiological images to assist in diagnosis.
  • Administer contrast media as required under the direction of the radiologist.
  • Ensure availability and optimum utilization of radiology consumables.
  • Ensure real time billing of all procedures has been done before they are carried out.
  • Ensure accurate identification and preparation of the client prior to imaging procedures.
  • Ensure radiation safety within the facility for both staff and patients.
  • Adhere to Infection Prevention Control measures per the hospital policies.
  • Ensure calibration, standardization and routine preventive maintenance on imaging equipment is done per the established procedures and protocols.
  • Prepare reports on status and usage of radiology equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain imaging records and ensure filing of patient records and tests results to comply with the legislative regulations.
  • Track patient’s radiological images and ensure timely reporting to foster efficient service.
  • Ensure shift handover is done and reported per policy.
  • Schedule and actively participate in monthly departmental meetings.
  • Manage the radiation exposure to radiology staff to ensure that it remains within the recommended maximum limits.
  • Participate actively in the supervision and organization of the radiology department.
  • Participation in incident reporting, root cause analyses, clinical audit and Quality Improvement Plans as required.
  • Maintain a positive work attitude and foster team work.
  • Ensure patient satisfaction through quality care, confidentiality, communication, feedback, escalation and demonstrated follow-up of patient’s concerns.
  • Support marketing activities and promote adoption of new radiological services to foster growth of the department.
  • Ensure that Avenue corporate governance policies are adhered to.
  • Prevent, detect and report any fraud or criminal activity.
  • Timely review and implementation of audit recommendations.

Personal Specifications

  • Diploma/Bachelors degree in Diagnostic Radiography/Medical Imaging Sciences or any other related field.
  • Registration with the Kenya Nuclear Radiation Authority and Protection Board as well as BLS Certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience.
  • Imaging skills including X-ray, MRI, Ultrasound and CT Scan.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety standards and quality management systems related to Radiography.
  • Leadership skills and attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and a team player.
  • Empathetic, reliable and customer focused.
