Job Description

Senior Research & Development Chemist

Roles &  Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, reformulation, and optimization of decorative, industrial, and automotive coating products.
  • Conduct laboratory testing, formulation trials, and product evaluations to ensure quality, performance, and compliance with technical specifications.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, formulation documentation, test reports, and experimental data.
  • Perform quality control testing on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products, and investigate product quality issues through laboratory analysis.
  • Participate in pilot production trials and provide technical support to resolve manufacturing and formulation challenges.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Production, Technical Service, and Sales teams to support product development, customer trials, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate alternative raw materials and formulation improvements to enhance product performance and achieve cost optimization.
  • Provide technical support during customer site applications and communicate field feedback to support product enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environment (SHE), ESG, ERM, Kaizen, and all laboratory safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, facilities, and workspaces in a safe, clean, and operational condition.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in the paint, coatings, or related chemical industry.
  • Knowledge of formulation, product development, raw materials, SDS, and laboratory testing methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for laboratory documentation and reporting.
