Skipper

Victory Farms Limited a leading aquaculture company is looking for a We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Skipper to join our growing team in Homa Bay. With the addition of an 11-meter catamaran to our expanding fleet, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating this vessel and other boats ranging from 8 to 14 meters. This is a hands-on role for a skilled skipper who is passionate about marine operations and safety.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Operate and navigate the 11-meter catamaran and other fleet vessels (8–14 meters) safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company procedures, and maritime laws.
  • Conduct pre-departure checks, routine maintenance, and safety drills.
  • Supervise crew and passengers, providing clear safety briefings and ensuring a positive onboard experience.
  • Maintain accurate logs of voyages, incidents, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with docking, anchoring, and general upkeep of vessels.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies or mechanical issues.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to optimize fleet scheduling and logistics.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a boat captain/skipper, ideally with catamarans or similar vessels (8–14 meters).
  • Valid boat operating license and up-to-date safety certificates (STCW or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of navigation, seamanship, and boat handling in various weather conditions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and emergency procedures.
  • Good communication and leadership skills for managing crew and interacting with passengers.
  • Ability to perform routine vessel maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
  • Additional marine or technical qualifications are an advantage.
