Job Description

The Lutheran World Federation (LWF; German: Lutherischer Weltbund) is a global communion .The Department for World Service is the LWF’s humanitarian arm. It has programmes in 32 countries. The LWF is a member of ACT Alliance.

Overall Purpose/Broad Function

To strengthen community protection structures for refugees in camps and host communities, with a special focus on persons and children with disability, girls and women empowerment.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Plan with SCO and coordinate training sessions of the community member
  • Support the Senior SCO in the preparation of the Monthly incentive payroll, weekly, monthly, Quarterly midyear, and annual reports.
  • Facilitate appropriate training for refugee staff, local community leaders on areas of peace building, conflict resolution, arbitration, community participation and self-management in order to promote social cohesion in the communities both host and refugee.
  • Assist in planning, developing of unit proposals and budgets
  • Facilitating Social cohesion program in the community.
  • Monitor the resolution of cases by religious /traditional leaders, women consortium and Peace committees in the Host communities and the refugee community.
  • Take a lead role in advocacy and community mobilization in upholding individual human rights.
  • Conducting quarterly meetings with refugee, host community leader’s / community structures to discuss and address different concerns of the community
  • Ensuring there is strong social cohesion among the refugee community and between refugee and the host community through joint dialogue sessions.
  • Generally, ensure that implementation of all the activities under social cohesion unit.
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

Education/Professional Designations/Experience

  • Bachelor of arts in community development
  • Diploma in social work and social administration
  • 7 years of hands on experience in humanitarian work.

  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills
  • Time management
  • Report writing skills
  • proposal development skills
  • Security surveillance skills.
  • OSHA Skills.
