About the role: 

• We are looking for a motivated Software Engineer to join our team based in Kenya or Nigeria. As an Intermediate Software Engineer you will collaborate with the rest of the engineering team to build our products.
• The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology and a strong background in software development, specifically in backend programming languages such as Python and TypeScript.
• In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience with AWS, Github, CI/CD, Docker, and Terraform

Responsibilities 

• Write reusable, testable, maintainable and efficient code.
• Develop and maintain backend systems and services using the specified engineering stack.
• Collaborate with the product and design teams to build new features and improve existing ones using the specified engineering stack.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure the quality of our codebases..
• Researching, investigating and fixing a wide variety of technical issues.
• Create documentation for and test new software applications.
• Create innovative solutions in a distributed environment, and help lead fundamental industry transformations.
• Help mentor and guide junior team members on the specified engineering tasks.

 Qualifications 

• Proficiency in Python and Typescript/Javascript, with very good knowledge of Django and React (Typescript/Javascript).
• Proficiency in SQL
• 5+ years of experience as an Intermediate Software Engineer in Python and Django.
• Experience with AWS, Github, CI/CD, Docker and Terraform.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Self-motivated and result oriented.
• Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
• Familiarity with event-driven programming in Python.
• Understanding of the differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform.
• Strong unit test and debugging skills.
• Startup experience is a must
