Mercy Corps is a global humanitarian aid agency engaged in transitional environments that have experienced some sort of shock: natural disaster, economic collapse, or conflict.

Strategic Pricing Advisor

Essential Responsibilities

Strategic Pricing & Budget Development

  • Support the development of pricing strategies for funding opportunities in collaboration with the Strategic Pricing Senior Manager and proposal teams.
  • Contribute to the development of compliant and competitive cost proposals
  • Review budget assumptions, scenarios, calculations and supporting documents to ensure consistency and accuracy

Proposal Development & Business Development Partnership

  • Serve as a finance partner throughout the proposal development process, supporting teams with budget development and financial analysis.
  • Work closely with Business Development and Regional teams to help assess financial feasibility and commercial pricing options.
  • Support the development of proposal pricing approaches, including cost analysis and value-for-money considerations
  • Assist in evaluating commercial models and partner arrangements, where applicable
  • Support partnerships and consortium budget development, including coordination with international and local partners
  • Develop compliant budgets and cost proposals across a wide variety of donors and client facing
  • Collaborate with technical and operational teams to translate program designs into realistic and implementable budgets
  • Contribute to internal budget reviews by identifying assumptions, risks, and areas requiring further analysis
  • Support pre‑positioning efforts through financial research and preliminary budget modelling
  • Assist in maintaining proposal development tools, templates, and financial resources.

Financial Analysis & Risk Assessment

  • Conduct financial analysis to support proposal pricing decisions and identify key cost drivers
  • Assist in assessing financial and commercial risks associated with funding opportunities.
  • Support scenario planning and sensitivity analysis for strategic proposals.
  • Gather and analyze market and donor information to support pricing recommendations.
  • Maintain pricing benchmarks and support analysis of sector trends and funding practices.
  • Escalate significant pricing, compliance, or financial risks to the Strategic Pricing Senior Manager.

Country Support & Capacity Building

  • Provide guidance and support to Country and Regional teams on budgeting and pricing processes.
  • Assist in delivering training on proposal budgeting, cost proposal development and pricing best practices
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of budgeting tools, guidance documents, and training materials
  • Promote knowledge sharing and consistent application of pricing standards across the organisation

Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders

  • Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of our field projects.

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in budgeting, proposal finance, pricing, or related field, preferably within an INGO or complex operating environment.
  • Understanding of donor funding mechanisms and competitive proposal development processes with a focus on different funding modalities desired.
  • Experience developing and/or reviewing budgets and financial proposals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high-attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
