The promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, introduced the devolved system of Government which resulted to the formation of the 47 Counties across the Country, Kakamega County being among them. Kakamega County is located in the western region of the country with an area of 3,051.3 square kilometers and an estimated population of 2,079,669

Chief Officer, Special Programs

Responsibilities for County Chief Officers

  • Oversee administration of the department and articulate the departmental vision.
  • Implement strategic plans aligned with County’s Vision 2030 and CIDP.
  • Provide strategic leadership and policy direction in the development and implementation of programs and projects.
  • Promote effective service delivery and ensure sustainable utilization of departmental resources.
  • Coordinate development and review of strategic plans and budgets.
  • Formulate and implement county laws and regulations.
  • Promote innovation and ensure compliance with performance standards and accountability measures.
  • Facilitate intergovernmental and inter-agency coordination.
