Job Description

The University of Embu (UoEm) was established as a Constituent College of the University of Nairobi via a Legal Notice No. 65 of 17th June, 2011 by His Excellency the President. EUC is the successor of the former Embu Agricultural Staff Training (EAST) College which started in 1947 as an agricultural training school and was later renamed Embu Institute of Agriculture in 1968. In 1990, it was upgraded to be Embu Agricultural Staff Training (EAST) College whose mandate was to develop and implement short management and technical courses, and offer research and consultancy services to enhance performance in the agricultural sector.

Funded-MSc Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering)

SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGE:

  • The scholarship will cover tuition fees, research/project costs, and assessment costs for the prescribed duration of study, subject to the approved HEST II Project provisions.
  • The programmes of study are expected to commence during the 2026/2027 academic year.

TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT:

  • Successful applicants will be engaged as Graduate Assistants and may be assigned supervised duties in tutorials, laboratory or field practicals, assessment support, student mentorship and research activities. In addition, they shall be:
  • Bonded under the applicable terms and conditions of the University of Embu;
  • Expected to complete their studies within the prescribed programme duration and maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout the scholarship period; and
  • Expected to transition to Ph.D. under the scholarship programme upon successful completion of the Masters Programme

 

Funded-MSc Civil Engineering (Water & Environmental Engineering)

SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGE:

  • The programmes of study are expected to commence during the 2026/2027 academic year.

  • The programmes of study are expected to commence during the 2026/2027 academic year.

TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT:

  • In addition, they shall be expected to complete their studies within the prescribed programme duration and maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout the scholarship period.

Minimum Requirements

  • Kenyan citizen aged 30 years and below.
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in a relevant field.
  • Meet admission requirements for the relevant Master’s programme.
  • Professional registration/eligibility where applicable.

 

Non-Funded-MSc Mechanical Engineering

TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT:

  • Successful applicants will be engaged as Graduate Assistants and may be assigned supervised duties in tutorials, laboratory or field practicals, assessment support, student mentorship and research activities.
  • In addition, they shall be expected to complete their studies within the prescribed programme duration and maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout the scholarship period.

Minimum Requirements

  • Kenyan citizen aged 30 years and below.
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in a relevant field.
  • Meet admission requirements for the relevant Master’s programme.
