Job Description

IDinsight is an international development organization that helps policymakers and managers make socially impactful decisions using rigorous evidence. We carefully tailor a wide range of analytical and quantitative tools to enable our clients to design better policies, rigorously test those ideas, and take informed action at scale to improve lives.

Social Media Intern, Strategic Communications

About the Social Media Intern

  • We are hiring a Social Media Intern to join our global Strategic Communications team. In this role, you will work directly with our Design and Digital Communications teammates to manage IDinsight’s social media channels: LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • We are looking for someone who treats social media as an editorial product: someone who thinks about what we publish, why a given platform is the right home for it, and how the content performs once it is out in the world. You will plan the calendar, draft the copy, design the visuals, run the analytics, and pitch the campaigns. Across all of it, you will be representing IDinsight’s voice to a global audience of researchers, funders, policymakers, and practitioners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run and pitch campaigns: We currently run recurring campaigns which you will support, and have full liberty to pitch and run your own.
  • Analyze performance across platforms:
Study how content is performing on each platform. Track follower growth, engagement, click-throughs, and the qualitative signals. Distill what is resonating, what is not, and what that means for the next month’s plan. Flag platform trends, algorithm shifts, and emerging formats for the team.
  • Plan the editorial calendar: Own the monthly social media calendar across all four platforms. Decide what runs where, when, and in what sequence, with an eye to upcoming events, publications, and broader campaigns. Coordinate with the comms team and project leads to develop and sustain our content pipeline.
  • Create platform-native content: Draft captions and design visuals for our social media outputs. Each piece should be adapted to the platform it lives on, in length, tone, and format. You will work across LinkedIn carousels, short-form video, motion graphics, data visualizations, and static posts. Copy should be specific and facts-based. Visuals should sit cleanly within IDinsight’s brand system.
  • Repurpose long-form research into social-first content: A central part of this role is translating IDinsight’s long-form work, including blogs, reports, policy briefs, podcast episodes, and webinar recordings, into multiple pieces of bite-sized social content tailored to each channel. You will identify the most compelling findings, quotes, and visuals from a given piece and build a multi-post rollout plan for social media.
  • Support event communications: Run pre and post-event social media content for IDinsight-hosted and IDinsight-attended convenings, webinars, conferences, and podcast launches. Build anticipation in the lead-up. Carry the conversation forward with live coverage where applicable and recap content once the event has wrapped.
  • Manage community engagement:
Monitor comments, mentions, and DMs across all four platforms. Flag conversations that need comms team’s attention, and proactively engage with content from partner organizations, peer institutions, and researchers in our orbit.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of major social media platforms including LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram, with an understanding of each platform’s audience, content formats, and best practices.
  • Strong copywriting and creative storytelling instincts.
  • A keen visual eye, and comfort with design tools. Canva at minimum. (Figma, Adobe Suite, and video editing tools are a plus.)
  • Working familiarity with Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Analytics, X Analytics.
  • An analytical mindset. You should enjoy looking at numbers and pulling out the story they tell.
  • Creativity and willingness to experiment with new formats and campaign ideas.
  • Interest in the international development and social impact sector.
  • Alignment with IDinsight’s mission and values.

Professional development

  • Skill and career development are core to IDinsight’s values and long-term impact strategy, and have been noted highlights of teammates’ experiences. IDinsighters receive significant mentorship from IDinsight leadership, support from talented peers, and are given considerable autonomy when ready. They maintain professional development plans and are given “stretch” opportunities designed to strengthen a variety of skills. Real-time feedback is embedded in our culture and formal structure enables maximum professional growth. Additionally, teammates have access to an annual professional development stipend that they are encouraged to utilize to explore their career interests and develop their skills.

Senior Associate, AI Transformation

What You’ll Do

  • You will support AI transformations within IDinsight and for external clients. Your work could be 100% internal or 100% external at any given time. Your work will include:

Project & engagement delivery

  • Own workstreams: Manage distinct components of advisory engagements (e.g., design of a no-code agent, or creation of a training module), ensuring high-quality execution and timely delivery.
  • Produce high-quality deliverables: Draft clear, compelling presentations, memos, and technical documentation that translate complex AI concepts into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
  • Build and manage relationships: Support managers in building and managing trusted advisor relationships with internal and external clients.

Discovery & workflow diagnosis

  • Diagnose pain points: Conduct user research, interviews, and shadowing sessions to uncover bottlenecks where AI can generate the highest return on investment.
  • Map user journeys: Translate fuzzy organizational problems into clear, logical process maps to identify specific intervention points for automation or augmentation.
  • Prioritize opportunities: Analyze potential use cases based on feasibility, risk, and impact, helping leadership decide what to build and what to skip.

Build & deploy AI solutions

  • Configure agents: Build and refine tailored AI agents (e.g., CustomGPTs, Claude Projects, Gems) that solve specific user problems.
  • Build automations: Design and implement low-code workflows (using tools like Zapier, Make, or n8n) to connect AI models with everyday tools (email, Slack, CRMs), moving beyond simple chat interfaces to real workflow integration.
  • Curate knowledge: Structure and organize institutional data to ensure AI tools have high-quality context to draw from, ensuring outputs are accurate and relevant.
