Manager, Retail Credit Underwriting

Roles & Responsibilities
JOB PURPOSE:

  • To ensure and maintain a high-quality Retail Loan book by appraising and approval of Retail Clients’ applications in line with the bank’s policies, making recommendations to the approving authorities for timely decisions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviewing, analyzing, and assessing credit risk on credit proposals for both new and existing borrowers and making recommendations to the approving authorities.
  • Exercise diligence, independence, and good judgement in credit decision to ensure quality Retail Credit portfolio
  • Ensuring applications meet turnaround time benchmarks.
  • Coordinate application movement process between branches and approving authorities.
  • Enforcing compliance with the bank’s credit policies in daily operations.
  • Identifying and mitigating risks in the underwriting process and escalation these to team leader
  • Participate in Training frontline staff on the loan applications process
  • Guiding/advising branch staff, Relationship staff and DSEs on credit appraisal requirements for the credit products
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field from a recognized Institution.
  • Professional Banking or Accountancy qualifications will be an added advantage

Experience and Core Competencies

  • At least 5 years’ experience, 1 of which should be in Retail Credit
  • Knowledge of Retail Banking products
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced financial risk analysis skills
  • Credit risk management skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills

 

Assistant Manager – Credit Analyst, Retail Credit

Roles & Responsibilities
PURPOSE:

  •  To ensure and maintain a high-quality Retail Loan book by appraising and approval of Retail Clients’ applications in line with the bank’s policies, making recommendations to the approving authorities for timely decisions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviewing, analyzing, and vetting credit proposals and making recommendations to the approving authorities
  • Ensure requisite documentation and checks are done prior to processing of the applications
  • Ensure all applications are processed within benchmarked turnaround times
  • Approvals within delegated authority
  • Exercise diligence, independence, and good judgement in credit decision to ensure quality Retail Credit portfolio
  • Identifying areas of weakness and risks in credit process and escalation these to team leader
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field from a recognized Institution.
