Theatre Perioperative Nurse (Cardiac) – AGC Tenwek Hospital

Job Purpose:

  • To provide nursing services within operating theatres, in order that the patient/client receives quality care for the honor and glory of God.

Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks

  • Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.

Laundry Supervisor – AGC Tenwek Hospital

  • The Laundry and Tailoring Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the efficient operation of the hospital’s laundry and tailoring services at CTC for exceptional service delivery, client satisfaction, and continuous improvement in line with hospital policies and prevailing regulations.
  • Develop strategic plans for the department, focusing on growth and efficiency.

Purpose:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Using the Nursing Process, organize and coordinate nursing care by prioritizing care for the critically ill patients based his/her assessment data.
  • Evaluate patients hourly in Cardiac Critical Unit e.g. their overall health status, to include vital signs etc. and act swiftly according to the findings.
  • Perform various nursing procedures as outlined in the Nursing Council Procedure Manual.
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, stress tests, Holter monitors, and other tests to evaluate heart function.

Job Purpose

  • The jobholder is responsible for providing nursing services within the CTC endoscopy unit, in order that the patient/client receives quality care in line with hospital policies and hospital regulations.

Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks

  • Assess each of the assigned patients’ needs.
  • Organize and coordinate nursing care and medical treatments.

Nursing Officer (Cath Lab) – AGC Tenwek Hospital

The role-holder assist the cardiologist in diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and interventional procedures on patients and providing quality nursing care, assessing and managing patient care in the cardiac catheterization lab, and supporting interventional radiology as needed in line with hospital policies and prevailing regulations.

Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks

  • To understand the procedural component of interventional cardiology including setting up of cath lab for intervention, assistance to the performing physician, handling and passage of blood gases, interpretation of blood gas results and angiography as within the scope of training and maintenance of sterile field.
  • Knowledge of operation of interventional software for the obtaining and recording of hemodynamic data from the case.
  • Intimate knowledge of the supplies in the lab including sheaths, stents, catheters, balloons and the many other components the interventionalist may request for during the procedure.
  • Willingness for pre-intervention planning with the respective interventional cardiologist to have the appropriate supplies prepared in a timely fashion prior to the intervention.
  • Perform pre-intervention and post-intervention assessment, including measuring blood pressure and temperature, checking blood glucose levels, and administering medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Assess, utilizing age-specific data, the patient’s physical, psychosocial, and spiritual status in a comprehensive manner.

Housekeeping Supervisor – AGC Tenwek Hospital

The Housekeeping Supervisor does the day to day management and supervision of housekeeping team to ensure a high degree of cleanliness of the hospital environment.

Responsibilities relating to the process:

  • Housekeeping Supervisor is to set and maintain exceptionally high standard of cleaning on a daily basis for both themselves and the housekeeping team/s.
  • Supervision of cleaning operations and supervision of cleaning staff working in all areas. Ensure that regular inspections of cleaning standards are conducted.
  • To maintain cleanliness of cleaning equipment ensuring that all chemicals used in the departments are appropriate, properly labelled and stored.
  • To ensure that all housekeeping equipment, furniture and furnishings are maintained, checked and kept in good working order and report all relevant faults.
  • To ensure that conference/meeting rooms are cleaned and well maintained and always ready for use.
  • To issue and keep inventory records of all housekeeping consumables, updating stocks to ensure they are always sufficient for use and used prudently.

Job summary

  • Reporting to the Electrical Engineer, the candidate participates in routine inspection, installation, testing, commissioning, training, service and maintenance electrical power systems and equipment

Duties and responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and timely resolution of electrical faults
  • Carry out installations, testing and commissioning of electrical items
  • Carrying out of periodic preventive maintenance of electrical systems
  • Conducting audits on electrical wiring and other installations to ensure compliance with safety

  • Provide technical pharmacy and pharmaceutical advice and service to the hospital.

Biomedical Technician – AGC Tenwek Hospital

  • Reporting to the Biomedical Engineer, the candidate participates in routine inspection, installation, testing, commissioning, training, maintenance, calibration and repair of biomedical equipment and plants to ensure maximum uptime of Medical equipment.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Installation, testing, and commissioning of new biomedical equipment.
  • Perform planned preventive maintenance of medical equipment
  • Diagnose equipment malfunction and carry out timely required repairs
  • Ensure timely, complete and accurate documentation
  • Test and calibrate components using a variety of manuals, troubleshooting techniques and code requirements
  • Collecting information on medical engineering services for input into the integrated health information management system;
  • Implementing Medical Engineering Programmes and Projects.
  • Ensuring compliance of medical equipment operations with safety and other regulatory standards
  • Participating in CMEs (Continuous Medical Education) programmes related to Medical Equipment and technology
  • Any other duty assigned by the supervisor

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Biomedical Engineering. Extensive experience can be considered in lieu of academic background.
  • 3+ Relevant experience preferably within a health facility
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a team player and problem-solving abilities
  • Good communication skills

Perioperative Nurse In-charge – AGC Tenwek Hospital

Job Purpose
The jobholder is responsible for overseeing all intraoperative, POHA, PACU, and cath lab nursing services as well as CSSD services within the Theatre department for the glory of God.  The jobholder ensures that the level of care given is world-class and meets the nursing standards set by the Nursing Council of Kenya as well as policies set by Tenwek CTC Management. This position manages key performance indicators and works to improve quality, utilization, smooth operations, and patient and staff satisfaction. The job holder must interact and communicate well with numerous other stakeholders, surgeons, physicians, nursing in-charges and other departments.

Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks

  • Oversee the supervising, planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling nursing activities within the Theatre department, cath lab, and CSSD.
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings, or as necessary, with all reporting staff to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure adherence to professional and industry standards for nursing care, promoting competence, efficiency, and compassionate care delivery.
  • Ensure that a clean and safe environment in the workplace is maintained to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  • Oversee key performance indicators and quality metrics and develop strategies and processes for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that infection prevention guidelines and practices are maintained to prevent the spread of infections within the Theatre department.
  • Set departmental goals and objectives that align with the hospital’s overall goals and mission.
  • Ensure adequate staff coverage, appropriate staff assignments, and staff leave allocation timelines are developed and updated to meet patient care needs.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and ensure their implementation, updating them as necessary to reflect best practices.
  • Coordinate planned preventive maintenance of theatre equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Collaborate with other departments (internal clients) to ensure the optimal running of the theatre and promote interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Foster a cohesive and unified organizational culture within the daily operations of the theatre.
  • Facilitate implementation of the internal audit, risk management, Quality Management System and other related work plans.
  • Plan and hold appropriate continuous medical/nursing education and staff development sessions as well as team building activities for all theatre staff.
