Head of Advocacy, Partnership Engagement & Fundraising

The Head of Advocacy, Partnership Engagement & Fundraising provides strategic leadership in advancing the Society’s policy influence, stakeholder engagement, resource mobilization, and partnership development agenda. The role is responsible for designing and implementing advocacy strategies, cultivating and managing strategic partnerships, securing sustainable funding opportunities and impact among key stakeholders, donors, government institutions, development partners, private sector entities, and communities. The position serves as a member of the management team and contributes to the Society’s growth, sustainability, and achievement of mandate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Develop and implement organizational advocacy and policy engagement strategies aligned with the strategic plan.
  • Monitor emerging policy trends, legislative developments, and sector priorities relevant to the organization’s mission.
  • Lead evidence-based advocacy campaigns and initiatives targeting policymakers, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the Society in national, regional, and international policy forums, networks, and coalitions.
  • Lead proposal development, donor engagement, and grant acquisition efforts.
  • Coordinate the preparation of concept notes, grant applications, fundraising campaigns, and donor reports.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Public Policy, Political Science, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • A master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • At least 7 years in a leadership role in a learning institution
  • Demonstrated success in securing grants and managing donor relationships.
  • Experience engaging with government institutions, donors, development partners, and private sector stakeholders.

Head of Education and Rehabilitation Service

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • The job holder will be in charge of the overall function of the Education and Rehabilitation Department and will be working closely with the Ministry of Education to ensure that issues of Learners with Visual impairment are incorporated within the planning of the MOE. He will also be responsible for designing and implementing orientation and mobility activities, participating in curriculum development with Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) on rehabilitation syllabus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Project Cycle management- planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual narrative reports to organization’s partners
  • Preparation and facilitation of quarterly Education and Rehabilitation steering committee meetings
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance enrollment of visually impaired learners accessing quality education
  • Coordinate research activities related to visually impaired children
  • Facilitate the procurement and distribution of teaching and learning materials to the education program

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education and Rehabilitation Officer

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • The job holder plays a key role in providing quality adapted computer skills, Orientation & mobility (O&M) and Activities of Daily Living to both newly blind and those who wish to refresh their basic computer soft skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Work with students enrolled for Adapted computer training.
  • Develop and Implement the Individual training plans for training blind, low vision and sighted trainees at the Centre for Adaptive Technology (CAT)
  • Ensure that the trainees are scheduled in time for their various classes and keep a roaster for the attendance
  • Provide course out lines to individual trainees and ensure learners are informed of their daily schedules from beginning to the end of the course
  • Conduct psychosocial talks in preparation for rehabilitation training among the newly blinded
  • Train students enrolled for Braille skills,
  • Train student in Orientation & Mobility and Activities of Daily Living

HR Officer

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • The incumbent will contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the Society by coordinating its administrative and human resources functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of new employees.
  • Develop Programmes that enhance employee relations.
  • Ensuring employees have correct pay and benefits.
  • Deliver compensation and benefit comparison reports to the executive team.
  • Promote equality, health and safety within the Society.
  • Ensure that Society employment policies follow national laws and regulations.
  • Advise executive on matters of salaries, redundancy and employment law.

Pharmacist

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • The holder will be responsible for dispensing ophthalmic medications, counseling patients on their proper use, managing pharmaceutical inventory, supporting ophthalmologists with medication-related information, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the safe and effective treatment of various eye conditions and surgical patients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Dispense ophthalmic medications accurately.
  • Educate patients on the proper use of eye medications.
  • Assist in the preparation of the pharmacy department budget by forecasting medication needs based on historical data and surgical schedules.
  • Implement and maintain an efficient inventory system (e.g., FIFO/FEFO) to manage expiry dates, track batch numbers for recalls, and conduct regular physical stock counts.
  • Maintain accurate medication records and documentation.
  • Manage medications used in ophthalmic surgeries.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma from a recognized institution.
  • Must be a registered Pharmacist with the relevant national pharmacy council/authority (with a valid practicing license).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
  • Experience in an ophthalmic or surgical hospital is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience with inventory management software is preferred.

Personal Guide & Chauffeur to the Executive Director

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • The Personal Guide and Chauffeur to the Executive Director is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and professional transportation services while assisting the Executive Director with travel coordination, local guidance, scheduling support, and other personal errands as required. The role requires exceptional discretion, professionalism, flexibility, and knowledge of local routes, destinations, and services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Safely transport the Executive Director to and from meetings, appointments, events, airports, and other destinations.
  • Plan efficient travel routes to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
  • Ensure compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Handle confidential information with the highest level of discretion.
  • Assist with personal errands and other assignments as requested.
  • Remain available for flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel assignments when required.
