Job Description

Veterinary Officer – 2 Posts

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Degree from a recognized institution;
  • Registration Certificate by the Kenya Veterinary Board;
  • Valid Practicing license from Kenya Veterinary Board; and
  • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertaking disease control activities such as disease research, vaccination and enforcement of livestock movement regulations;
  • Participating in the training of stakeholder’s investors control programmes;
  • Treating sick animals;
  • Advising on good veterinary practices;
  • Collecting data and preparing reports on animal health, products and markets;
  • Providing advice on animal breeding and welfare; and
  • Undertaking postmortem examination and other diagnostic tests.

 

Animal Health Officer – 2 Posts

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Animal Health Management; Animal Production, Animal Production and Health Management, Environmental Health Sciences, Livestock Economics or Health Extension from a recognized institution;
  • Registration by the Kenya Veterinary Board;

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing construction and maintenance of farm structures;
  • Giving advice on dip designing, siting and appraising construction;

Agricultural Officer – 2 Posts

For appointment to this grade, candidate must have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following fields; – Food Science, Home Economics, Agriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture Economics, Natural Resource Management, Agribusiness, Agriculture Extension, Agriculture Education or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities in one of the following areas; Crop Production, Land Development, agricultural extension and Project Management; and

Livestock Production Officer – 2 Posts 

For appointment to this grade, candidate must have:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing livestock technical information;
  • Providing technical advice in animal production, livestock marketing, range management, apiculture and ranching;

  • Participating in organizing extension activities which include field days, agricultural shows, field demonstrations, farmer field schools and farm visits;
  • Participating in collaborative research activities;
  • Disseminating livestock production technologies such as construction of livestock housing and structures, milk production, pasture and fodder production and conservation, farm planning, gross margin analysis, on farm feed formulation;
  • Implementing livestock production programmes/projects in such areas as dairy cattle farming, beef cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, rabbits, camels, donkeys breeding programmes, fodder production and conservation, value addition to livestock products, apiculture, emerging livestock and other animal husbandry interventions; and

Fisheries Officer

For appointment to this grade, candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: – Fisheries, Zoology, Aquatic Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, Physical Science, Chemistry or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution; and
  • Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receiving and compiling fisheries related statistical data from field officers;
  • Analyzing fisheries data and preparing reports;
  • Assisting in monitoring, control and surveillance of the fisheries resources;

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary education (KCSE) mean grade C-(Minus) or its equivalent; and

  • Technician Part III certificate in a field of Agricultural Engineering such as Soil and Water, Mechanization/Farm Power, Structures, Surveying or any other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • An officer at this level will work under the guidance and close supervision of a senior officer. Specific duties will involve provision of agricultural engineering works, services, and mechanization extension.

 

Assistant Livestock Production Officer III – 5 Posts

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines: – Animal Health and Production, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Science and Technology, Agribusiness, Animal Production, Farm Management, Apiculture, Range Management or Natural Resource Management from a recognized institution; and

  • Carrying out practical demonstrations relating to livestock production;

Assistant Leather Development Officer III

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have;

  • Diploma in any of the following fields: – Leather Technology, Footwear Technology Leather Goods Design and Development from a recognized institution;

OR

  • Diploma in Animal Health or Environmental Resource Management/ Science, plus a two years Certificate in Hides and Skins Improvement or Leather Technology; and
  • Certificate in computer application from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing simple tannery layout plans under the guidance of a senior officer;
  • Demonstrating to traders the proper methods of washing, fleshing, trimming, lacing, suspending and preservation of hides and skins;
  • Advising on the salt type, storage and method of application in curing hides and skins;
  • Participating in sitting, designing, and overseeing the construction of suitable hides and skins premises and stores;
  • Participating in field days, barazas and workshops to advise livestock farmers on the proper methods of handling domestic animals for production of quality hides and skins; and
  • Demonstrating to skins flayers and traders on the appropriate methods of flaying cleaning, curing and storage of hides and skins.

 

Agricultural Assistant II – 5 Posts

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), mean grade D+ or its equivalent; and
  • Attended two (2) year Certificate Course in any of the following fields: Agriculture, Food Technology, Agriculture & Home Economics, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Masters of Medicine in Dermatology from a recognized institution by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
  • A certificate in senior management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate of registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
  • Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  • Bachelors of Dental Surgery (DS) degree from a recognized institution by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
  • Masters of Dental Surgery in Orthodontics from a recognized institution by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
  • A valid certificate of registration by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
  • Valid Specialist Practising License from Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
  • Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution; and

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performing specific dental care procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, pedodontics, orthodontics, minor oral- facial surgeries and periodontology;
  • Being on call for review and manage dental health patients;
  • Undertaking medico-legal duties which include filling of P.3 forms;

  • Bachelor of Science in Physics with post graduate training in medical physics;

  • Three years’ experience working in a busy Radiotherapy Center at a busy Hospital.

  • To train and supervise junior Medical Physicists;

  • Radiation Dosimetry;
  • QA/QC in Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology;

Dental Technologist III – 3 Posts

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C (Plain) with a C in English/Kiswahili and Physical Science/Physics/Chemistry and a C- in Biology and any one of the following Metal Work, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry;
  • Diploma in Dental Technology from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in Computer Application skills from recognized institutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receiving all incoming impressions for prosthesis or appliances;
  • Prepare the required models with the specified recommended dentalmaterials;
  • Fabrication of special trays;
  • Design the prosthesis or appliance to attain the correct results;
  • Fabricate the prosthesis or appliances to the corresponding design;
  • Carry out any repairs of any prosthesis/appliance to its original complexion;
  • Deliver the finished prosthesis or appliance to the client’s/patient’s satisfaction; and
  • Maintaining good records pertaining to patients work.

 

Health Administrative Officer III – 4 Posts

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have;

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C- (Minus) or its equivalent with at least a C (Plain) in English/Kiswahili and Mathematics or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Diploma in Health Management/Hospital Administration Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognised institution;
  • Certificate in computer Application skills from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Allocation of health administrative duties and responsibilities specially;
  • Preparation and implementation of budget development and maintenance of health facilities;
  • Estate management of residential and non-residential buildings;
  • Co-ordination of revenue collection;
  • Coordination of catering and housekeeping services;
  • Overseeing requisition, transport management, utilization and management of stores & equipment, overseeing staff and patients’ welfare by ensuring their security;
  • Management of the hospital/health institution;
  • Providing secretarial and administrative services to various committees; and Maintenance of health administrative service standards in hospital/health institution.

 

Cook III – 5 Posts

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade ‘D’ plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
  • Craft Certificate in Food and Beverage Production, Sales and Service or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

OR

  • Attended a formal course lasting not less than two (2) months in Food Production organized by the Kenya Utalii College or other recognized Institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of raw foods for cooking;
  • Cleanliness of equipment used in production;
  • Maintaining hygiene by ensuring cleaning of the kitchen and its surroundings;
  • Setting up and preparing equipment for use in food preparation and production; and
  • Alerting the supervisor of any defective equipment.

Mortuary Attendant III – 10 Posts

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D (plain) or its equivalent from a recognised institution; and
  • Certificate in Mortician course lasting not less than six months from a recognized institution.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Collection and Reception: Safely collect and receive bodies from within the hospital and external locations, adhering to all prescribed procedures to ensure dignity and respect for the deceased;
  • Documentation and Records Management: Accurately record details of bodies received at the facility to maintain impeccable records and traceability.;
  • Body Preparation: Perform washing, embalming, and refrigeration of bodies with the utmost care and respect, following all health and safety guidelines;
  • Assist in Autopsies: Provide necessary support during post-mortem examinations, including scrubbing and preparation of the facilities;
  • Family Support: Offer counselling to bereaved families, providing them with emotional support and guidance through the process of grieving and body collection; and
  • Body Release: Handle the release of bodies to relatives according to laiddown procedures, ensuring a smooth and respectful transition.
