Job Description

CDL was founded in early 2003 by its current Managing Director Lucy Mmari.Within her 14 year tenure in a well established logistics company, She honed her skill in human resources management and thereafter started CDL.

Finance Head – Non Alcoholic Beverage

  • We are looking for a Value Stream Finance Head  – Beverages  to optimize costs, Plan, Implement, Manage and run all financial activities of Value Stream including business planning, budgeting, forecasting and negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare Cost Benefit Analysis for any new Capex proposed by various departments in concurrence with Head of Operations and ensure investments are submitted to BOD along with CBA.
  • Prepare and update costing sheet for products/SKUs and share on weekly basis
  • Analyze Management Accounts line by line and provide observations and recommendations to BOD & HODs for implementation.
  • Keep a check on input cost related to manufacturing and assist Head of Operations by providing facts and figures for reducing TOTAL COST of PRODUCTION.
  • Participate in procurement decisions related to purchase of RAW material for Value Stream.
  • Monitor BOM on daily basis & highlight anomalies to relevant Production Leads and seek clarification.
  • Plan, Implement, Manage and run all financial activities of Value Stream including business planning, budgeting, forecasting and negotiations.
  • Reduce Debtors cycle by ensuring timely issuance of credit notes by coordinating with Sales team and Audit team.
  • Increase focus on credit worthy customer segments through Sales Head, prepare and implement customer incentive schemes for acceleration/on-time payment.
  • Provide Impact Analysis for all marketing expenses, price increase/decrease and promotions.
  • Ensure adherence to contracts and agreements by suppliers & sales channels as per company policy and record keeping including Bank Guarantees from customers.
  • Responsible for ensuring timely Cash in-Cash out through Sales & Production teams, monitor debtors/creditors on daily basis.
  • Liaise & work closely with Treasury Team and Finance and Accounts team for smooth cash flow management
  • Prepare priority list for payments to be made based on collection reports from debt collection team along with procurement
  • Prepare financial forecasting and budgets (annual & 13-week rollover) related to Value Stream under guidance of CFO to ensure alignment with Group Level Financial goals.
  • Prepare P&L for Value Stream, Brand P&L, Customer P&L, Channel P&L and provide financial inputs to Head of Operations for P&L profitability.

Experience:

  • 10-12 years, with at least 8 years in Non Alcoholic Beverage Industry.
  • Product Costing : Detailed Cost sheet preparation
  • Variance analysis between standard cost and actual Cost
  • Knowledge of working in SAP (HANA) is highly desired.
  • Review of BOM in SAP
  • Knowledge of SAP CO and PP Module

 

Category Lead – Marketing (Food & Snacks)

Key Responsibilities

  • Category Strategy & Planning
  • Develop and execute the annual marketing plan for the Food & Snacks portfolio, aligned to growth and profitability targets.
  • Identify consumer and channel opportunities across subcategories (noodles, cereals, snacks) to drive penetration and frequency.
  • Translate consumer insights and category trends (nutrition, convenience, youth snacking, affordability) into actionable marketing initiatives.
  • Brand Management & Communication
  • Lead brand positioning, communication, and innovation storytelling for brands such as Noodies, Shapies, Fillows, Elbbin & Nibble (and other emerging products).
  • Build and execute 360° marketing campaigns (ATL, digital, in-store) that drive awareness, trial, and loyalty.
  • Ensure cohesive messaging across packaging, advertising, and promotions to strengthen our client  brand identity.
  • Trade & Channel Activation
  • Design and implement trade activation plans that drive visibility, conversion, and distribution for core and new products.
  • Partner with sales and RTM teams to ensure flawless execution of promotions across general trade, modern trade, and institutional channels.
  • Measure activation ROI and continuously optimize channel investments.
  • Innovation & Portfolio Development
  • Support innovation projects — from concept development and packaging design to launch execution.
  • Work with R&D, Supply Chain, and Sales to ensure launches are commercially viable and meet consumer needs.
  • Lead post-launch reviews and performance tracking to refine the innovation pipeline.
  • Data & Performance Management
  • Track category performance (brand health, volume, share, and profitability) using dashboards and external data.
  • Use insights to guide pricing, portfolio prioritization, and marketing investment.
  • Prepare quarterly category reviews and business updates for leadership.

Requirements

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field. CIM or MBA preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Must have at least 5–8 years in FMCG marketing, with at least 3 years in food, snacks, or similar category management roles.
  • Proven experience managing brands targeting youth, family, and mass-market segments.
  • Strong understanding of both traditional and modern trade in Kenya and East Africa.
  • Analytical thinker with creative problem-solving and execution discipline.
  • Experience managing agencies, budgets, and promotional programs.

 

Category Lead – Marketing (Beverages)

Finance Lead

  • The Finance Manager will oversee all financial management, accounting, budgeting, taxation, and planning functions of the organization. The role will ensure the company maintains strong financial controls, complies with DCP regulatory requirements, and supports strategic decision-making through insightful financial modelling and analysis.
  • The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting and financial management within a microfinance, fintech, or banking environment and will be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and growth-oriented setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and DCP regulations.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and data integrity.
  • Lead preparation of management reports, variance analysis, and board reporting packs.
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulators (CBK, KRA), and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and timely submissions.
  • Budgeting, Planning & Forecasting
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including development of financial forecasts and scenario analyses.
  • Monitor performance against budgets, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide financial insights and analytics to guide management decisions, lending strategies, and portfolio expansion.
  • Accounting & Treasury Operations
  • Supervise day-to-day accounting operations, including reconciliations, loan disbursement postings, and collections accounting.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and funding requirements to support loan portfolio growth.
  • Oversee payroll processing, statutory deductions, and compliance with all tax obligations.
  • Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
  • Manage preparation and filing of all statutory returns (PAYE, VAT, Withholding Tax, Excise Duty, etc.) in accordance with KRA regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Digital Credit Provider (DCP) reporting standards, CBK guidelines, and other applicable laws.
  • Advise management on tax planning opportunities, cost optimization, and regulatory changes.
  • Financial Modelling & Strategic Analysis
  • Build dynamic financial models to support capital raising, pricing strategies, and new product development (e.g., EWA, payroll financing, asset-backed loans).
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses, stress testing, and loan portfolio performance tracking.
  • Support fundraising efforts through preparation of investor presentations, financial projections, and valuation models.
  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Supervise and mentor finance and accounting team members.
  • Drive continuous process improvement, automation, and adoption of accounting systems (e.g., Musoni,Mambu, QuickBooks, Xero).
  • Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and efficiency within the finance function.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • CPA (K) or ACCA qualification required; MBA or MSc in Finance is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in finance management, preferably within a Microfinance, Fintech, or DCP environment.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, financial modelling, and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong understanding of CBK DCP regulations, IFRS, and KRA tax laws.
  • Proficiency in accounting and financial planning systems (QuickBooks, Excel, Power BI, Musoni,Mambu, etc.).
