Job Description

One Acre Fund is a nonprofit organization that supplies smallholder farmers in East Africa with asset-based financing and agriculture training services to reduce hunger and poverty.

Tupande Senior Export Logistics Coordinator

You will manage end-to-end export operations to ensure that goods leave our facilities and reach international vendors on time, within budget and in full compliance of all agreed regulations; including safety standards.

You will be a part of the Market Access (Soko) team and will report directly to Export Logistics Specialist. This role is based in Nairobi and is hybrid.

Responsibilities

Export Operations and Coordination

  • Plan, organize, and oversee the entire export process from order placement to delivery at the destination.
  • Coordinate with production, warehousing, and procurement teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to schedule shipments.
  • Track shipments, resolve delays, and ensure smooth cargo movement.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare all required export documentation (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, export licenses)
  • Ensure compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Stay updated on changes in export/import regulations, customs procedures, and trade agreements.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary contact for clients regarding export logistics inquiries.
  • Provide updates to customers on order and shipment status.
  • Resolve customer complaints, shipment issues, or documentation errors promptly.
  • Develop relationships with shipping agents, port authorities, and regulatory agencies.

Cost & Performance Management

  • Negotiate shipping rates and terms with carriers and freight forwarders to optimizecosts.
  • Monitor freight costs, customs duties, and tariffs to control budgets.
  • Analyze export logistics performance and recommend process improvements for efficiency and cost savings.

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • 3+ years of experience in Supply chain, with at least 2 years focusing on Exports.
  • Proficient in export management systems and tracking tools.
  • Proficiency in building complex formulas and functions in Google Sheets to support data analysis and reporting.
  • Language requirement: English is required. Working knowledge of Swahili is also useful.

 

Tupande Machine Operator (Fixed-Term)

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Machine Operator to join our production team. As a Machine Operator, you will operate several machines and equipment used in the production process. You will ensure smooth operations, quality control, and a safe working environment, while adhering to all company procedures. This role is based in Sagana, Mt Kenya.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure operation and prevent breakdowns.
  • Monitor product quality and adjust machines to meet product standards.
  • Resolve mechanical or process issues during production.
  • Follow safety protocols and report hazards or incidents immediately to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain accurate production records and collaborate with team members to meet targets and improve processes.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience working in an avocado oil factory
  • Certificate or higher in either Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or any other related field.
  • Knowledge and experience in the Food safety management system, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety in the workplace.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Analytical mindset to assess issues, gather relevant information, and determine logical resolutions.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with the warehouse and production teams.
  • Good time management skills to complete tasks efficiently and meet operational targets.

 

Tupande Macadamia Processing Coordinator (Fixed-Term)

You will ensure that the macadamia products are processed as per the customer requirements and orders fulfilled in the set timeline. You will be part of Tupande Soko and will report directly to Processing Manager. This role is based in Sagana at Tupande Soko factory and is on site.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in production planning, managing schedules, and coordinating raw material supply to ensure, high-quality output.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety standards, hygienic conditions, and compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) requirements.
  • Oversee workforce management, provide training, and ensure implementation of company procedures.
  • Production Data Management
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and innovative solutions to enhance production efficiency.

  • A Degree in Food Science, Production Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized University/college.
  • 3+ years working experience in a macadamia processing facility as a production supervisor.
  • Macadamia Production Machine knowledge
  • Basic Excel/G-Sheets experience
  • Knowledge and experience in the Food safety management system, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety in the workplace.
  • Team Management experience

 

Tupande Cash Crop Production Manager

This role offers an exciting opportunity to directly shape the next frontier of Tupande’s impact by launching and managing new, end-to-end value chains — from seed to market. You will work closely with the New Cash Crops team to lead the day-to-day operations of cash crop pilot projects, supporting the design, implementation, and scale-up of high-potential crops that diversify farmer income beyond traditional staples — driving both profitability and sustainability for farming communities.

Responsibilities

Farmer Trial Operations:  

  • Coordinate setup and implementation of crop trials (e.g., chili, rosemary, lemongrass, essential oils).
  • Manage the procurement and logistics for trial materials (seedlings, inputs, tools) and ensure timely delivery to field sites.
  • Support data collection, field monitoring, and feedback loops to evaluate trial performance.
  • Collaborate with agronomy and training teams to ensure the team and farmers receive the right technical support.

Aggregation Coordinations: 

  • Work with aggregation and logistics teams to plan and execute efficient collection, quality check, storage, and transport of produce.
  • Liaise with Soko and Asili teams to strengthen the link between farmer production and market aggregation.
  • Track volumes, timelines, and performance indicators to ensure aggregation targets are met.

Quality assurance: 

  • Implement quality-control standards at trial, aggregation, and post-harvest stages.
  • Support testing, grading, and documentation to meet buyer and export requirements.
  • Identify and troubleshoot quality issues early, coordinating corrective action with relevant teams.

  • Proven ability to work in rural field environments, manage field staff or agents, and oversee implementation across multiple sites.
  • Proficient with digital tools such as Google Suite and Microsoft Office (especially Sheets/Excel).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Operations Management, or a related field required; post-graduate degree preferred.
  • Strong operational and project management skills, with experience coordinating activities across various teams such as field, logistics, aggregation, and sourcing.
