Job Description

IUK was founded in the early 2000s through ITED (International Trust for Education), initially established as an institution offering Islamic and Arabic language courses at the diploma level. However, due to the demand for affordable higher education, the founders decided to expand and upgrade to a fully-fledged university offering various fields.

Lecturer in Arabic Language for Non-Arabic Speakers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Arabic language courses tailored for non-Arabic speakers.
  • Develop and deliver engaging course content for both in-person and online/distance learning (ODeL) formats.
  • Create interactive online learning materials, including lessons, exercises, and assessments
  • Mastery of the English language will be an added advantage.
  • Provide academic support and language tutoring to students.
  • Monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Arabic Language, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Degree certificates must be equated by the CUE if they are foreign earned.
  • Experience in teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers.
  • Proven ability to create and deliver content for online and distance learning platforms.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven ICT skills.
  • Working knowledge on Learning Management System (LMS) platforms to undertake
  • Online and ODeL teaching.

 

Lecturer in Hadeeth

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Hadeeth (Prophetic Traditions).
  • Develop and deliver high-quality course content for both in-person and online/distance learning (ODeL) formats.
  • Create engaging and interactive online learning materials, including lectures, readings, assignments, and assessments.
  • Mentor and guide postgraduate students in their academic and research projects.
  • Conduct research in the field of Hadeeth and contribute to academic publications.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Hadeeth, Islamic Studies, or a related field.
  • Degree certificates must be equated by the CUE if they are foreign earned.
  • Proven experience teaching Hadeeth, especially at the postgraduate level.
  • Expertise in creating and delivering content for online and distance learning platforms.
  • Mastery of the English language will be an added advantage.
  • Strong research, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ICT skills.
  • Working knowledge on Learning Management System (LMS) platforms to undertake Online and ODeL teaching.

 

Lecturer in Usul al-Fiqh

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and post-graduate courses in Usul al-Fiqh (Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence).
  • Develop and deliver engaging course content for both in-person and online/distance learning (ODeL) formats.
  • Create interactive online learning materials, including lectures, readings, assignments, and assessments.
  • Guide and mentor students in their academic and research endeavours.
  • Conduct research in the field of Usul al-Fiqh and contribute to academic publications.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Usul al-Fiqh, Islamic Law, or a related field.
  • Degree certificates must be equated by the CUE if they are foreign earned.
  • Proven experience in teaching and curriculum development, with expertise in online and distance learning.
  • Mastery of the English language will be an added advantage.
  • Strong skills in designing e-learning content for diverse platforms.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and research capabilities.
  • Proven ICT skills.
  • Working knowledge on Learning Management System (LMS) platforms to undertake
  • Online and ODeL teaching.

 

Class Coordinator

The Islamic University of Kenya is looking for a dedicated Class Coordinator.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences
  • At least 5 years of experience in a busy office environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

 

HR Officer

The Islamic University of Kenya is seeking a qualified HR Officer. The ideal candidate should have:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Membership in a recognized HR professional body
  • At least 5 years of experience in a busy office environment
