St Andrew’s School, Turi is highly respected in Kenya and regarded as one of the leading international schools in East Africa. Numbering 550 pupils, it comprises two semi-autonomous schools: a Preparatory School of circa 220 pupils between the ages of 3 and 13 and a Senior School of circa 330 pupils between the ages of 13 and 18.

Teacher of English (Senior School)

The Role

Head of Sixth Form College

The Role

  • The Head of College (HoC), reporting to the Deputy Head Academic, is a member of the Senior School Management Team (SSMT) and a leading member of the Academic Management Team.  The HoC directly line manages the Career Advisor, Assistant Head of College and the Sixth Form academic tutors.
  • Alongside duties connected to being a member of the SSMT, responsibilities of the HoC include leading various teams involved in the College, monitoring and supporting the academic progress of all College students, and taking responsibility for the transitions into the College and to destinations beyond.  The successful candidate will be leading a Sixth Form with motivated and aspirational students, with a track record of supporting students to gain entry to some of the most prestigious institutions across the world.  The successful candidate will be well supported in their post, and will be offered quality continuing professional development as they grow in their role and their leadership.

  • The Assistant Head Pastoral (AHP), reporting to the Deputy Head Pastoral, is a member of the Senior School Management Team (SSMT) and a leading member of the Pastoral Management Team.
  • Alongside duties connected to being a member of the SSMT, responsibilities of the AHP include acting as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, managing and leading rewards and sanctions, analysis of pastoral  issues, recruitment and leadership of the Pastoral Graduate Assistants, and overall leadership and delivery of the Turi Leadership Award in Sixth Form.  The successful candidate will be well supported in their post, and will be offered quality continuing professional development as they grow in their role and their leadership.

  • The Head of Sport and Academic PE is not only responsible for delivering an outstanding academic provision, but also the privilege of leading a highly effective and competent department, including an Assistant Head of Sport, Head of Girls games and a team of Graduate Assistants, many of whom have or continue to represent Kenya in various sports.
  • St Andrew’s School has a rich and successful sporting tradition and the successful candidate will be expected to continue that legacy.  The School is currently embarking on a development project to expand the current school gym, build a new short course swimming pool, flagship basketball court and new tennis court provision.  In addition, St Andrew’s has recently been used as the official training camp for both the Kenyan and Ugandan international rugby teams.  This is a relationship that will be expected to be cultivated and expanded.
