Taita Taveta University (TTU) is a young dynamic fully fledged newly chartered public University in Kenya. It is strategically located near Voi Town, about 8 kilometers off the Mombasa-Nairobi highway in Taita Taveta County. It is an Academic Centre of Excellence with a special focus on Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering.

Professor (Grade 15) in Agriculture/Ecology/Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management

A Professor MUST have the following:

  • An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University.
  • At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level since being appointed Associate Professor or equivalent; and research experience;
  • At least 8 publications in refereed journals or a minimum of sixty (60) equivalent publication points since attaining Associate Professorship or equivalent, of which at least forty-five (45) should be from refereed scholarly journals;
  • Supervised at least five (5) post-graduate students to completion, at least two (2) of whom at doctoral level as an Associate Professor or equivalent;

Senior Lecturer (Grade 13) in Zoology/ Animal Sciences

Must possess the following qualifications:

  • Must possess a Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Agricultural Technology, Farm Management or related field.
  • Three (3) years’ work experience as a Trainee Technologist or comparable position.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • Exemplary work performance.

OR

  • Certificate in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Agricultural Technology, Farm Management or related field.
  • Must possess KCSE academic certificate or its equivalent
  • Five (5) years’ work experience as Trainee Technologist or comparable position.
  • Demonstrable Technical expertise in Crop Production, Horticulture, Green House Management, Irrigation Systems, Nursery Management, Pest and Pest Control, Management, Dryland Farming, Climate – Smart Agriculture and Agribusiness with ability to support commercial agricultural production, students’ practical training, research trials, and community outreach programmes will be highly desirable.
  • Must be computer literate
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct

  • Have a minimum of three (3) articles in refereed journals or a minimum of twenty four (24) publication points of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers;
  • Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable)

SENIOR LECTURER (Grade 13):
A Senior Lecturer MUST have;

  • An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University.
  • At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a Lecturer or six (6) years of research/industry experience.
  • Have a minimum of four (4) articles in refereed journals or a minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which at least twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals;
  • Supervised at least three (3) post-graduate students at either Masters or PhD level to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent;.
  • Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).

 

Administrative Assistant II – 3 Posts

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II (Grade 8):

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Public Administration or any other relevant area from a recognized institution;
  • Applicants with Knowledge and demonstrable experience in student’s admission, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application, student’s examinations management, student’s records management, management of meetings, international relations, Council/ Board secretarial matters and in monitoring, evaluation and reporting are preferred.
  • Conversant with Modern management techniques;
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct; and
  • Computer Literate.

TERMS OF SERVICE The Terms of Service for the positions shall be on Permanent and Pensionable Terms. However, the Terms of Service for the Position of Tutorial Fellow shall be on a three (3) year contract renewable once, subject to performance and progress in attainment of a PhD, for additional three years during which time he/she should have obtained a PhD.
