Job Description

Tatu is a project of Rendeavour, Africa’s largest urban land developer with over 30,000 acres of visionary projects in the growth trajectories of large cities in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo. Rendeavour’s vision goes beyond alleviating what is a self-evident problem – that of stifling urban congestion and a dearth of quality housing and commercial property in Africa. Rather, we aim to help create the infrastructure – the living and working spaces, communities, schools and hospitals – that will help sustain and accelerate Africa’s economic growth, meet the aspirations of Africa’s burgeoning middle classes, and serve as a catalyst for further urban development.

Planner

The Planner will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of Tatu City’s residential and mixed-use construction projects. The role requires close collaboration with site teams, contractors, and project managers to ensure alignment with company goals and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project, including sequencing of construction activities for residential and infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor daily and weekly site progress, verify subcontractor performance, and identify schedule variances against the baseline plan.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections specific to ongoing developments.
  • Review and validate subcontractor claims, interim payment applications, and variations for accuracy and compliance.
  • Track materials, manpower, and equipment utilization to ensure alignment with project timelines and resources.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and performance summaries for management and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update project risk registers, highlighting potential schedule or cost risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Support contract administration by assessing time and cost impacts of design or scope changes.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, project governance standards, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with site engineers, quantity surveyors, procurement, and project managers to maintain accurate reporting and communication across teams.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in project controls, preferably in residential, mixed-use, or infrastructure developments.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and workflows for residential projects (structural works, finishes, MEP, and handover phases).
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Power BI is an added advantage.
  • Experience in cost control, budgeting, and earned value management.
  • Familiarity with Kenyan construction codes, approval processes, and local authority regulations.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and within multidisciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Support: Assist the urban design team in developing and refining conceptual and detailed masterplans for various precincts within Tatu City.
  • Drawing & Graphics Production: Produce and edit design drawings, plans, and visual presentations using CAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Site Layout & Analysis: Contribute to site layout studies, design options, and data collection to inform planning decisions.
