Development Coordination and Food System Consultant
Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing technical support in the development of CCAs and the elaboration of UN-CF framework including mainstreaming the 6 transition pathways for UN-CFs developed in 2026-2027 to accelerate SDG implementation in Africa in collaboration sub-programmes heads and divisions.
- Coordinate and support the implementation of the outcomes of the 2nd UNRC dialogue to ensure UNEP’s enhanced support to UNCTs and UNRC systems.
- Technical and advisory support between RDC Unit and the Results Groups on the ground, UN Resident Coordinators and National Institutions. d) Providing technical backstopping to the UNCT FP system in Africa in alignment with the agency’s delivery model to strengthen country engagements and UNEP’s visibility.
- Technical capacity building on UNCT FP mechanism in response to calls from UN RCOs and sub-regional heads based on requests received from UNCTs and member states within their jurisdiction.
- Provide technical support for CCA and UN-CF end cycle quality assessments (Peer Support Group-PSG) to authorize the finalization of the UN-CF development process at country level.
- Support the Regional Director (RD) and Deputy Regional Director (DRD) in their roles of high-level political representation across the region (elaboration of briefing notes, country briefs, strategic readouts).
- Provide technical guidance to UNCT reporting including UN INFO reporting of UNEP’s initiatives in Africa.

Qualifications/special skills
- An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in environment science, conservation, natural resource management, engineering, project management, economics or related fields is required.
- A first-level university degree, combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. Experience with an International organization is desirable.

Responsibilities
Knowledge Management for Resource Mobilization
- Support the development, maintenance and strategic expansion of a UNEP Resource Mobilization Knowledge Hub for collecting, organizing, and disseminating information on:
- UNEP’s funding landscape, funding partners, and partnership opportunities.
- Practical tools, guidance, FAQs, best practices, case studies, and training materials related to resource mobilization.
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing across divisions to enhance transparency, coherence, and alignment with UNEP’s resource mobilization strategy.
- Support capacity-building initiatives, including developing training content, guidance notes, and presentations for staff.
- Support the articulation and continuous refinement of key institutional messages on UNEP’s value proposition, funding priorities, the Environment Fund, and strategic relevance to funding partners.
Coordination of global and Regional Funding Dialogue and related messaging
- Support the planning, development, and implementation of global funding dialogues with Member States and partners, including preparation of concept notes, background materials, and follow-up documentation.
- Provides communications and outreach support and materials for resource mobilization engagement at regional ministerial for bilateral consultations, and high-level meetings.
- Serve as focal point for coordination with designated regional offices to strengthen outreach to Member States and increase Environment Fund income and other flexible funding for the organization.
- Coordinate unit’s engagement in funding-related outreach, campaigns, exhibitions, and visibility initiatives during high-level events, including the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) and related platforms.
Provision of content and support to UNEP’s corporate branding, value for money in close collaboration with Communications Division
- Support strategic messaging on funding priorities, financial needs, and achievements.
- Contribute to increased visibility and appreciation for funding partners, ensuring alignment with corporate branding guidelines.
- Provide inputs to funding-related communication products, digital content, campaigns, and impact storytelling initiatives.
- Support the development of guidance and content that highlights results delivered through partnerships.

Coordination of collaboration with the Executive Office
- Serve as the unit’s focal point for liaison with the Executive Office to support outreach and alignment on resource mobilization.
- Coordinate the preparation and flow of information, briefing materials, and strategic input required for senior level engagement with funding partners.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and quality assurance to junior and temporary staff members to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance of communication outputs with unit standards and corporate guidelines.
Other Duties
- Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.

Education
- An advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate degree) in international relations, communications, or a related field is required.

- Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Work Experience
- A minimum of two years experience in programme management, resource mobilization, partnerships, knowledge management,communications, or related areas is required.
- Experience in knowledge sharing and applying knowledge management concepts into practice related to resource mobilization or engagement with partners is required.
- Proven experience in strategic communication, and engagement with funding partners is required.
- Experience in drafting content for diverse audiences in the areas of strategic messaging, partner visibility content, digital communications, campaigns, and results/impact storytelling is required.
- Experience in coordinating outreach campaigns and stakeholder engagement is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide contributions and coordinate with relevant colleagues on regular and ad-hoc UNEP and UN reports, related to gender equality, disability inclusion, youth, poverty eradication and diversity, in alignment with UN-SWAPreporting and UNDIS performance and Poverty Eradication Guidance, Youth Strategy.
- Support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of UNEP’s gender equality, disability inclusion youth and poverty eradication commitments at the programme and portfolio level, contributing to relevant corporate reports and knowledge products.
- Develop, update, and promote the use of standardized tools, templates, and guidance notes to support gender-responsive, disability-inclusive youth and poverty eradication programme and project design and reporting.

Qualifications/special skills
- Completion of high school diploma is required. Supplemental training in gender studies, social sciences, development studies, disability studies, public policy, human rights, international relations, or a related field is desirable.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in gender studies diversity and inclusion, social science or inclusive development programming is required.
- Excellent knowledge and experience of project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in an environment and/or development context is required.

Assistant Project Officer, JOSP Somalia
Duties and Responsibilities
Programme and Project Coordination Support
- Support coordination and implementation of UNEP activities across the Somalia Country Programme, including RESTORE, Maareynta, and other ongoing and emerging initiatives, in line with approved workplans.
- Maintain programme‑level schedules, action trackers, and contact databases covering multiple projects and partners, ensuring that deliverables are tracked and updated.
- Liaise with consortium partners, implementing partners, and Somali government counterparts to facilitate information exchange, alignment of activities, and follow‑up on agreed actions.
- Provide logistical and documentation support for field missions, technical meetings, and cross‑project coordination activities.

Qualifications/special skills

- A minimum of 2 years of experience supporting environmental, development, or humanitarian projects is required Experience in project coordination, communications, events, or administrative support within international organizations or NGOs; is required.
- Proven writing and editing skills for reports and communication outputs and excellent facilitation skills ;is desired Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams, including local and expatriate technical experts is required;
