Tutorial Fellow – Medical – Surgical Nursing

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master’s of Science degree qualification from a recognised/accredited University in the relevant field.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree qualification from a recognised/accredited University in the relevant field.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience in a similar role,
  • A valid practising licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya – NCK,
  • Proficient in relevant computer application

Duties and Responsibilities of Teaching Faculty

  • To teach in areas allocated by the Head of Department.
  • Design, develop, plan and deliver a range of programmes of study, sometimes for entirely new courses at various levels.
  • Deliver high-quality lectures and practicals.
  • Oversee clinical practice, providing students with real-world learning experiences and guidelines in hospitals or clinical settings.
  • Review course content and materials on a regular basis, updating when required.
  • Collaborate with academic colleagues on course development, curriculum changes and the development of research activities.
  • Carry out research and write research grant proposals.
  • Seek and participate in consultancies.
  • Present research papers at national or international conferences and other similar events.
  • Dissemination of research outputs.

Qualifications Requirements

  • PhD/Doctorate in Nursing /Medical-Surgical Nursing/ General Nursing/Pediatric Nursing/Community Health/ Public Health or equivalent degree qualification in a
  • relevant area from a recognised/ accredited university.
  • Master of Science in Nursing /Medical-Surgical Nursing/ General Nursing/Pediatric Nursing/Community Health/ Public Health degree or a related area from a recognised/accredited university.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing /Medical-Surgical Nursing/ General Nursing/Pediatric Nursing/Community Health/ Public Health degree or a relevant field from a recognised/accredited University.
  • At least three years of teaching/research experience at the University level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
  • A minimum of twenty-four (24) equivalent publication points as a Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow of which sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal articles.

  • A minimum of forty-eight (48) equivalent publication points as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow of which thirty-two (32) should be from refereed journal articles.
  • Supervised at least four (2) postgraduate students including (1) doctoral student to the completion
