Job Description

Stedmak Gardens and Hotel is one of a kind hotel, apart from being located in a serene and superb surroundings and also neighboring popular landmarks like the Bomas of Kenya.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking qualified and vigilant individuals to join our team as lifeguards. The primary responsibility of the lifeguard is to ensure the safety and well-being of all guests utilizing the indoor heated pool facilities. The lifeguard will be responsible for enforcing pool rules, providing assistance and guidance to swimmers, and responding promptly to any emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor pool activities and ensure compliance with safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area and promptly identify any potential hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations in a firm and courteous manner.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to swimmers as needed, including instruction on proper swimming techniques and water safety.
  • Respond immediately to any emergencies or incidents in the pool area, including administering first aid and performing CPR if necessary.
  • Conduct routine inspections of pool equipment and facilities to ensure proper functioning and safety.
  • Communicate effectively with hotel guests and staff to address any concerns or inquiries related to pool activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the pool area, including regular removal of debris and cleaning of pool surfaces.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay current on lifeguarding techniques and safety protocols.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Valid lifeguard certification from a recognized authority (e.g., Red Cross, YMCA).
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Strong swimming skills and knowledge of water rescue techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform rescue maneuvers and provide assistance to swimmers as needed.
  • Prior experience as a lifeguard preferred, but not required.

Working Conditions:

  • This position involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, and lifting  objects.
