Systems Operations Engineer I

About the role:

This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of SunCulture’s IT infrastructure, with a focus on network management, unified communications (UC) platforms, and endpoint computing. Key responsibilities include administering Windows and Linux systems, managing firewalls, routers, and switches, and optimizing the UC platform for seamless communication. The role also involves supporting end-user devices, overseeing OS deployments, software updates, and troubleshooting. Proactive monitoring, incident response, and security compliance are essential, along with capacity planning and performance optimization. Additionally, the individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain documentation to support scalability and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure & Network Management – Maintain and administer Windows/Linux systems, perform OS installations, patching, upgrades, and manage network devices (firewalls, routers, switches).
  • Unified Communications (UC) Management – Administer and troubleshoot UC platforms, including call routing, voicemail, conferencing, and integrations to ensure optimal performance.
  • Endpoint Management – Support desktops, laptops, and mobile devices, including OS deployment, software updates, hardware troubleshooting, and endpoint management tools.
  • Monitoring & Incident Response – Implement monitoring systems, configure alerts, troubleshoot system outages, and participate in incident response, including root cause analysis and on-call support.
  • Security & Compliance – Enforce security best practices, manage access controls, conduct vulnerability assessments, and ensure compliance with security standards for UC and endpoint systems.
  • Collaboration & Documentation – Work with cross-functional teams, provide technical support, and maintain accurate system and process documentation.
  • Optimization & Capacity Planning – Improve system performance, contribute to scalability planning, and ensure the availability of UC and endpoint infrastructure.

Does this sound like you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ Proven experience as a SysOps Engineer / System Administrator or similar role
  • 3+ Experience with Unified Communications platforms 3cx, Call Centre studio or Connex is required.
  • 3+ Experience in Network Administration.
  • Experience with Endpoint Management.
  • Strong understanding of both Linux/Windows operating systems
  • 2+ Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancing, VoIP, SIP).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, especially with UC and endpoint related issues.
  • Basic Understanding of scripting languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • General Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • General understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a bonus.
