Job Description

The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), like most other universities, started in a modest way. It commenced as a graduate school of theology known as the Catholic Higher Institute of Eastern Africa (CHIEA). The Institute (CHIEA) was founded in 1984 by the regional ecclesiastical authority known as the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences

Lecturer in Educational Technology

Job Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

  • Must have at least three (3) years teaching experience at university level.
  • Must have published at least two articles in refereed journals or one university level textbook or two (2) book chapters.
  • Should be proficient in computer packages.
  • Should have a PhD degree or Equivalent Academic Doctoral Degree in Educational Technology or related field.
  • Should have evidence of administration experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • To actively participate in Department/Faculty/University community service activities;
  • To attend and effectively participate in Departmental, Faculty and University meetings and functions;
  • To be available for students and staff for office consultation;
  • To be committed to continuous improvement of the Department and Faculty;
  • To conduct research, publish and participate in seminars;
  • To ensure regular review of his/her courses in conformity with quality assurance reports and emerging international best practice;
  • To ensure that quality continuous assessment of students takes place and feedback promptly given to the students;
  • To supervise students’ research work;
  • To teach at least 10 unique units (two semesters) per academic year;
  • To uphold the good image of the Faculty and the University in the manner in which he or she carries out his or her duties;

 

Assistant Editor

Job Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

  • At least two years full-time work experience as an Assistant Editor in a reputable publishing firm, a university press or media house;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications (with specialization in Print Media or Publishing) from a recognized University of at least an Upper Second Class;
  • Demonstrated experience of working with authors on manuscript evaluation;
  • Excellent proof reading and copy editing skills
  • Experience in writing for and editing newsletters, speeches, annual reports, magazines, press releases and promotional materials (e.g. brochures, banners, supplements);
  • Strong aptitude for desk and library research

Job Responsibilities

  • Edit University publications (books, modules, journals, conference proceedings, reports, newsletter, etc) ensuring that they meet set standards in terms of content and presentation while ensuring timely completion of works;
  • Handle correspondence between Publications Department and other offices (internal and external);
  • Manage subscriptions to the University journal, African Christian Studies, coordinate journal shipments, and maintain effective communication with subscribers;
  • Manage the journals exchange programme in coordination with Acquisitions Librarian;
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.
  • Perform other duties as delegated by University Editor and approved by Director, Publications;
  • Take and maintain minutes of departmental meetings and other meetings where the Department is represented;
