Job Description

The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations that is concerned with international public health. It was established on 7 April 1948, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

Duties

The incumbent is expected to contribute towards:

  • Lead the M&E team within VPD, including providing technical advice, the development of key reports, team supervision, the development and use of standard M&E approaches, tools and methodologies.
  • Lead the collection of appropriate data, identification of gaps in M&E data, lead production of reports including adequate visuals across UCN.
  • Oversee the development of digital programme reviews, review of M&E systems and provide technical advice, working closely with programmes across the cluster.
  • Lead the preparation of monitoring and progress reports at programme and country levels, case studies, briefings, proposals, disease outlook report for UCN, communications and advocacy documents required for strategic decision making.
  • Prepare training manuals, contribute to and provide training on M&E to cluster teams as well as ISTs and at country levels.
  • Attend and support the convening of various management meetings and guide predictable follow-up on agreed action points with countries, partners and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of standards, guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for M&E with UCN including updated data indicators and frameworks.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or relevant to the functioning of M&E for strategic action.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Essential: Master’s degree in public health informatics or information management, project management, social science, epidemiology, public health or related field.
  • Desirable: Advanced degree or certification in public health, business administration, project management, monitoring and evaluation or information technology.

Experience
Essential: At least 7 years of relevant work experience in information management, project management, epidemiology or public health.
Desirable

  • Experience working in information technology and data management
  • Previous experience supporting evidence to action initiatives in disease control
  • Experience with WHO or other UN agencies or International NGOs

Skills

  • Knowledge of M&E concepts for application in public health service delivery.
  • Skills in project management implementation.
  • Strong coordination skills and ability to analyse data and synthesize information from multiple sources.
  • Excellent writing skills, production of quality reports, experience in producing public health policy brief.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with ability to multi-task and produce results under pressure.
  • Professional skills in the development of reports and persuasive documents.
  • Knowledge of the functioning of WHO and the UN system is an asset including discretion and diplomacy.
