Job Description

The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations that is concerned with international public health. It was established on 7 April 1948, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to contribute towards:

  • Knowledge Management on Big Catch-up (BCU) and other activities being implemented towards achieving IA2030 goals:
  • Produce country profiles on immunization status
  • Identify best practices and document lessons learnt in the implementation of the BCU Initiative

Technical Writing on BCU activities:

  • Write, edit, and format country, subregional, and/or regional technical documents and/or reports for publication on the BCU initiative.
  • Work in coordination with other technical teams at the IST and Country offices to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency of technical content, adhering to established WHO standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with regional partners and stakeholders to gather information and their perspectives in the development of the technical documents and reports before finalization and dissemination.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Develop communication materials through documentation of project activities, milestones, and outcomes through regular progress reports, case studies, success stories, and lessons learned from the implementation of BCU
  • Work in coordination with the data teams to compile and synthesize data, evidence, and findings from BCU activity evaluations, assessments, and surveys in countries into comprehensive reports and presentations.
  • Ensure timely submission of technical reports and deliverables to donors, partners, and other stakeholders, adhering to established reporting schedules and requirements.
  • Technical support and institutional capacity building for disease control support through:
  • Facilitating country capacity building of member states by providing training, coaching, and support to staff members on knowledge management techniques, tools, and best practices.
  • Facilitating country capacity strengthening through writing workshops sessions on technical writing for BCU activities to allow for a country lead approach in the development of communication materials.
  • Supporting in the development of templates for easier development of customized reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual on activities.
  • Facilitating publication and dissemination of communication materials developed on catch-up activities through online platforms, organized workshops, and other opportunities as they become available.
  • Other related responsibilities as assigned, including replacing and backstopping for others as required.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Essential: Master’s Degree in Knowledge Management, Communications, epidemiology, public health, or related field.
  • Desirable: PhD degree in epidemiology, public health, international health. Certificate or training in M&E or quantitative methods.

Experience

  • Essential: At least 7 years of professional experience in the development sector in the areas of knowledge management, monitoring and evaluation with strong data skills, or communications roles, including at least 3 years in the health sector.
  • Desirable: Experience working with a national Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) programme
  • Experience working with WHO or other UN Organization is an asset

Skills

  • Extensive experience using a diverse range of monitoring, evaluation and learning methods.
  • Progressive experience leading and managing diverse teams (with direct or indirect reporting line) in an ambiguous and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience to deliver cross-functional projects in complex settings.
  • Experience conducting advanced analyses to inform business or policy decisions.
  • Track record in developing and leading cross-institutional partnerships and collaborations.
  • Track record in report writing for public dissemination.
  • Experience with data systems and knowledge management.
  • Established professional network with relevant institutions in the area of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
  • Excellent knowledge of evaluation standards and methods, as well as learning approaches in International Development
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated skills in presenting information to groups of people with diverse educational and training backgrounds.
  • Excellent capacity to build and develop a team.
