Objectives of the Role:

The Technical Plant Manager oversees the entire manufacturing process of resin-based products, ensuring quality control, efficient production, and adherence to safety regulations. This role aims to optimize production processes, drive innovation through R&D projects, and maintain a competitive edge in the market.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide raw material procurement strategies to optimize costs while ensuring quality standards.
  • Enforce rigorous quality checks on incoming raw materials and finished products.
  • Manage production processes, ensuring smooth operations, training, and compliance with quality, reliability, flexibility, and on-time delivery targets.
  • Oversee all R&D projects based on customer demands and market needs.
  • Maintain and optimize machinery functionality, ensuring efficient operations and timely maintenance.
  • Drive sales volumes and introduce new technologies relevant to the African market.
  • Contribute to major management decisions and support the business’s growth strategies.

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of proven experience as a Production/Technical Manager in resin manufacturing or paint industry.
  • Deep understanding of production and technical management.
  • Proficient in quality standards, health & safety regulations, and performance evaluation.
  • Experience in reporting key production metrics and budgeting concepts.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP software.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, decision-making ability, and results-driven approach.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with SCADA reports and reactor monitoring.
  • Familiarity with Working Safely guidelines, Kaizen/DWM activities, and Training Within Industry (TWI).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and conduct application testing for product development.
