Summary

We are looking for a Training and Communication Expert to support us on an upcoming road project in Kenya. Scope of work will include consulting services for training and capacity building of representatives of road construction companies, constituency road committees, county governments and KeRRA in climate resilient and sustainable road rehabilitation and maintenance (gravel and low-volume sealed), in cooperation with and support of Kisii Training Center. Consulting services will also aim supporting and training of Counties, KeRRA and Ministry of Roads and Transport towards improved road monitoring and road maintenance planning.

The Individual will be responsible for:

  • Supporting training activities for the Program in liaison with Kisii Training Center (KTC).
  • Preparing KTC on issues such as contracts, defining trainees’ selection procedure, monitoring of training results.
  • Supporting KTC in communication of training products and results, including through digital. media.

​​Qualifications

Qualifications And Skills

  • Must possess a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Must at least be registered as a professional engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya or equivalent.

General Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 8 years’ practical post-qualification experience in civil engineering projects.

Specific Professional Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience and a proven track record of assessing the training needs of road agencies/departments, road contractors and design and supervision consultants and designing and delivering appropriate training modules and courses, which address these needs.
  • S/he must be fully conversant with the current public and private sector training institutions in Kenya.
  • The Specialist is expected to supervise/coordinate the activities of Kenya Institute of Highways & Building Technology / Kisii Training Center (KIHBT/KTC) who are expected to provide part of the training.
