Job Description

SoCha (a portmanteau of Social and Change) is an independent Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (ME&L) firm that provides bespoke solutions to social challenges. Since our inception in 2010, we have grown from a consortium of globally-recognized experts who specialize in evaluating the effectiveness of development assistance, to a full-fledged ME&L services firm that specializes in advancing innovative methodologies and changing the way donors find solutions to social problems.

Scope of Work:

The LISA program, implemented by SoCha LLC, seeks a Transcriber (Consultant) to provide technical expertise and support with the verbatim transcription of recordings from engagements with stakeholders including meetings, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), In-depth Interviews (IDIs), and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) for an assessment on the HPN/USAID KEA Maternal and Newborn Health Program. The assessment will be conducted in nine (9) counties namely Vihiga, Kakamega, Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Nakuru, Kwale, Turkana and Nairobi counties. The consultant will be contracted by SoCha and will report directly to the designated Technical Lead (Consultant).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Transcription: Verbatim transcription of recordings from engagements with stakeholders including meetings, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), In-depth Interviews (IDIs), and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).
  • Organization and Documentation: Documentation and organizing of the transcripts as per county, sub-county, and facilities and finally by engagements.
  • They will work with under the technical guidance of the Qualitative Data Analyst/Researcher
  • during the transcription and organizing the resultant transcripts.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure ethical and regulatory compliance, data accuracy, and confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Health care or social science related fields from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of three years of expertise in providing verbatim transcriptions of recordings from engagements with stakeholders including but not limited to meetings, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), In-depth Interviews (IDIs), and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).
  • An understanding of Maternal Neonatal Health (MNH) Standards and guidelines is an added advantage.
