Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Logistics Supervisor in the day-to-day operation of the transport department.
  • Formulate and implement strategies, plans, and policies related to the logistics and transport department.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Implement green logistics practices to minimize environmental impact.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain appropriate fleet management software.
  • Assess transportation needs and provide advice on the most suitable mode of transport.ENI
  • Prepare scope of work and negotiate logistics/transportation contracts when necessary.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping practices for the fleet and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with logistics and supply chain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare and distribute invitation-to-bid forms as required.
  • Conduct regular assessments of drivers’ knowledge of traffic rules, signaling, and practical driving.
  • Promote adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain fleet-related records and documents while ensuring the safety of vehicles.
  • Liaise with mechanics for servicing and conduct daily and weekly oil checks.
  • Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs.
  • Collaborate with the logistics team to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma/Degree in  logistics, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Must have over 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in FMCG industry.
  • Good computer skills, including working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Good knowlegde of Mombasa/Kwale routes
  • Knowledge of basic stocktaking procedures.
  • Firefighting and HSE basic courses (preferred).
  • Must be proficient in SAP, MRP, and 3 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing and warehousing environment.

  • Valid driving license for class B, C, and E.
