Job Description

Summit Recruitment & Search was established in 2009 to address the recruitment, mass recruitment, executive search, outsourcing and training needs of companies based in Kenya or wanting to enter the Kenyan, East African, South African and African market

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the transportation budget to ensure funds are properly utilized and implemented.
  • Supervise mechanics’ and service assistants’ performance, allocating driver assignments, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining all vehicles in top working order.
  • Manage databases that detail transport activities, financial accountings, and employee schedules, personnel records.
  • Create, implement, and revise an annual budget for transportation department expenditures.
  • Provide long-range planning for the transportation department.
  • Participate in the development of time and cost estimates for major vehicle repairs.
  • Determine the appropriateness of vehicle service requests and authorize work to be completed.
  • Establish standards of maintenance and preventative maintenance for vehicles.
  • Ensure that standards consistent with all applicable laws and regulations are maintained.
  • Manage compliance with all safety regulations governing pupil & student transportation.
  • Inspect all vehicles on a regular basis to determine that high standards of cleanliness, safety, and security are maintained.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise all bus drivers.

Key Qualifications:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree
  • Practices of operating a school transportation system and fleet vehicles.
  • Knowledge of Laws, safety precautions, and rules pertaining to the transportation of children and the maintenance of transportation vehicles.
  • Effective communication techniques using tact and professionalism.
  • Ability to Coordinate and supervise the work of others and develop and maintain cooperative working relations with those contacted in the course of the work.
  • Carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Read and interpret transportation policies.
  • Prepare and present oral and written reports.
  • Assist and provide direction to the employees as it relates to personnel issues and concerns.
