Job Description

Fresh Life works with municipalities and urban residents to develop and scale safe, citywide inclusive and financially sustainable sanitation solutions in fast growing cities starting with Nairobi, Kisumu and Eldoret in Kenya.

Job Location: Nairobi, Kenya (Candidate MUST be willing to relocate to Kenya, if not already based there.)

Job Overview:

As an Assistant Manager at Citywise, you will be a core member of our dynamic team, responsible for managing end-to-end implementation and delivery of Citywise engagements. This role requires a versatile individual with exceptional project management, client engagement, and business development skills. Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Project Management and Delivery (70%):

  • Manage end-to-end implementation and delivery of Citywise engagements.
  • Oversee all active and potential projects simultaneously to ensure on-time fulfillment of commitments.
  • Manage direct reports and/or external consultants to complete deliverables.
  • Hold ultimate responsibility for the exceptional quality of all deliverables.
  • Collaborate with Operations Associate for timely invoicing and payment.
  • Design and lead training sessions, plan workshops, and develop business models.

2. Business Development (20%):

  • Build a pipeline of projects by monitoring formal opportunities.
  • Hold ultimate responsibility for business development tracking in Airtable.
  • Contribute to proposal development, prepare written pitches, budgets, and application materials.
  • Pitch project ideas, develop presentations, and represent Citywise in external meetings and conferences.

3. Strategy and Operations (10%):

  • Contribute to continuous refinement of Citywise’s approach to identifying, winning, and executing projects.
  • Share insights from project work to inform the growth strategy of the Citywise portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain an understanding of Fresh Life’s mission to identify opportunities for new Citywise initiatives.

Desired Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a fast-paced environment with relevant responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport with clients and collaborators.
  • Experience in collecting, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.

Preferred:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in French.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in the WASH sector or familiarity with urban development challenges.
  • Familiarity with human-centered design principles.
  • Experience using Airtable for project management.
  • Knowledge of international donor requirements (e.g., USAID, FCDO, World Bank, WHO).
