About The Role

• In East Africa our prime ambition lies in the Food & Agri domain, fundamentally driving sustainable food systems. Projects we’re currently working on include realizing a plant-based meat venture and value chain in Rwanda, building a transparency and loyalty platform for coffee in Ethiopia and Kenya, and designing and demonstrating viable cold chain business models in Kenya.
• To deliver on these projects and to grow our activities in East Africa we are looking for a consultant
• with a strong strategic and conceptual mindset to analyze new opportunities, ideate innovative solutions, and validate sustainable business models for scale. For this particular role, we are looking for an entrepreneurial, hands-on individual who is skilled in financial and business modeling, who can seamlessly integrate strategic business planning with innovation and set up and run validation pilots on the ground.

You will…

• Perform in-depth research and analysis.
• Ideate and design desirable and scalable game-changing business concepts, leveraging technological innovation.
• Engage and work together with partners, both large and small organizations, commercial and non-commercial.
• Quickly prototype and test different business models or assumptions with the target group.
• Plan and budget for your project(s).
• Analyze and control revenues, costs, and margins.
• Acquire new projects (commercial or philanthropic): be out in the market, identify opportunities, prepare pitch deck, write proposals
• Work closely with the Powered by Enviu team in the Netherlands and the Enviu team in East Africa

Profile

You’d be perfect for the role if you have:

• A proven track record of at least eight years of working experience, out of which at least five years as a consultant
• Experience in the domain of innovation and business modeling and/or product design;
• Experience in the domain of food & agriculture
• The drive to make positive impact on people and nature in East Africa
• The right attitude to work with people with all kinds of backgrounds, from small farmers to for-impact foundations to entrepreneurs to CEOs of multinationals.
• The ability to think conceptually and act pragmatically
• A successful track record in multi-stakeholder project management;
• A commercial, opportunity-driven attitude
• An entrepreneurial can-do mentality
• A Bachelor’s degree at a reputed institute.
• A driver’s license (and own means of transportation) is considered a plus
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
