Job Description

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the UN agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the overall supervision of the Programme Lead on Our City Plans, the consultant will be responsible for the following duties within Our City Plans digital platform, developed in Drupal:
  • Design and develop new functionalities according to user feedback and data gathered, including back-end and front-end development.
  • Build and develop new Drupal modules, adjust and update existing modules and content.
  • Deploy updates, maintenance, configurations, technical support and quality control of the site using Drupal as Content Management System and back end.
  • Develop and update the site based considering user-friendly design, responsive design on various types of devices, accessibility standards, browser compatibility and optimal performance in low-bandwidth locations.
  • Manage data analytics and hosting services.
  • Build prototypes for testing and user testing and feedback.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualification:

  • First Level university degree in Computer Science, Web Development, UX/UI Design, or a related field is required. Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in web development and expertise on Drupal is required. Experience on UX/UI is highly desirable.
