WooCommerce Engineer

We’re looking for a skilled WooCommerce Engineer who will be responsible for managing our e-commerce platform’s technical aspects, ensuring optimal performance, and implementing best practices as we scale. This is a hybrid/remote position that offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team focused on excellence in e-commerce.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance and optimization of our WooCommerce platform, ensuring seamless operation and maximum uptime
  • Manage the migration to High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS) and other critical system upgrades
  • Oversee plugin updates, compatibility testing, and security maintenance
  • Develop custom plugins and extensions to meet specific business requirements
  • Implement and maintain efficient testing protocols for all WooCommerce-related developments
  • Coach and mentor team members on WooCommerce best practices and development standards
  • Monitor system performance and implement optimizations for high-volume order processing
  • Analyze and improve site speed, user experience, and checkout flow
  • Implement automated testing and deployment processes
  • Collaborate with the team to resolve technical issues and implement new features
  • Document technical processes, configurations, and custom developments
  • Evaluate and integrate third-party services and APIs when needed

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with WordPress and WooCommerce development
  • Proven track record of managing high-volume and complex WooCommerce stores (1000+ orders/month)
  • Strong experience and creativity in custom plugin development and maintenance
  • Expertise in PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL
  • Knowledge of WooCommerce HPOS and modern e-commerce best practices
  • Experience with performance optimization and caching strategies
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks
  • Knowledge of containerization and deployment tools
  • Familiarity with REST API development
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of server administration
