Summary

The Art Director position at our company offers an exciting opportunity for seasoned professionals passionate about the intersection of visual design, strategy, and client engagement. This role involves overseeing creative initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving visual content strategies. This is a contractual position with ongoing career development opportunities.

Salary Range – KES 90,000 – KES 115,000

Key Responsibilities:

The mission of the Art Director at The Digital Monkeys Limited is to lead and inspire the creative team in producing visually compelling and innovative content that aligns with our clients’ strategic goals. By leveraging cutting-edge design principles and fostering a collaborative environment, the Art Director ensures the delivery of high-quality visual experiences that enhance brand engagement and drive business success. This role is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of creativity while maintaining a clear focus on client satisfaction and continuous professional growth. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the creative direction of projects, ensuring all visual content meets high standards of creativity and quality.
  • Oversee the design process to maintain consistency and alignment with brand guidelines and client expectations.
  • Ensure all projects are completed within specified deadlines and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Efficiently manage time and resources to deliver projects on schedule without compromising quality.
  • Optimize the design workflow to enhance the speed of execution while maintaining high-quality output.
  • Implement efficient processes and tools to streamline design tasks and reduce turnaround times.
  • Foster a collaborative environment within the design team and with other departments, encouraging open communication and teamwork.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings and brainstorming sessions to share ideas and feedback.
  • Identify skill gaps and provide training opportunities to upskill the design team as well as mentor and guide team members, promoting their professional growth and development.
  • Stay updated with the latest design trends, tools, and techniques, and integrate new knowledge into the team’s work as well as encourage and support continuous learning and professional development within the design team.
  • Ensure all design projects and tasks are tracked and managed using Monday.com as well as promote adherence to project management protocols and proper documentation within the platform.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience (typically 5-7 years) in graphic design, art direction, or a related creative field is crucial with proven experience in leading creative teams and managing design projects from conception to completion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Communications, or a related field.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), UX/UI design, and knowledgeable in project management and digital marketing.
  • Written & Oral Communication, Organization Skills and Efficient
  • Creative/innovative – Ability to conceptualize and execute innovative visual ideas that align with client goals and brand identity.
  • Strategic Thinking – Ability to align creative strategies with business objectives and marketing goals, ensuring designs effectively communicate the desired message.
  • Leadership and communication skills – Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate design concepts, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate effectively with clients and team members as well as ability to inspire and manage creative teams, ensuring cohesive and high-quality output.
  • Problem-Solving – Strong problem-solving skills to address design challenges and client feedback creatively and effectively.
  • Attention to Detail – Keen eye for detail to ensure all visual content is polished, accurate, and of high quality.
  • Adaptability – Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs, market trends, and technological advancements in the design field.
  • Collaboration – Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, development, and client services, to deliver cohesive and impactful projects.
