About the job

A leading company in the renewable energy space is seeking a dynamic an experienced Head of Business Development – Mini Grids to join their team. As the Head of Business Development, you will be responsible for driving the company’s growth and expanding their market presence in the region.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing strategic business development plans to achieve company targets and objectives.
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, partnerships, and potential investment opportunities within the renewable energy sector.
  • Identify economic activities, potential partnerships, and methodologies for development consideration for both Mini-Grids and Wholesale in all potential markets.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector partners, and industry organisations.
  • Leading and managing a high-performing business development team, providing mentor-ship and guidance to ensure success.

Requirements:

  • Master/Bachelor of Business Administration, Economics/Political Sciences, Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successful business development and project management within the renewable energy industry, with a focus on the African market.
  • Proven experience with Mini Grids projects – non-negotiable.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, market trends, and regulatory frameworks in Africa.
  • Candidate must be fluent in English and French is advantageous
