Job Description

Gilani’s Distributors is a dominance in the distribution sector and is well known and respected. This is evidenced by the increased presence of our trucks ferrying goods on roads throughout the Rift Valley, Central, Nairobi, Nyanza, Mombasa Coastal region and the Western corridor of Kenya.

Role Purpose:

The Head of Security, Surveillance & Investigations is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive security strategies and measures to safeguard our organization’s assets, personnel, and information. Tips: Provide a summary of the role, what success in the position looks like, and how this role fits into the organization overall.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic security plan aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and protocols for security operations, surveillance, and investigations.
  • Oversee the identification, assessment, and mitigation of security risks and threats.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement security awareness and training programs.
  • Manage and lead a team of security professionals, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Coordinate with external security agencies and law enforcement agencies as required.
  • Conduct periodic audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of security measures and recommend improvements.
  • Stay updated on emerging security technologies and industry best practices, and implement them as appropriate.
  • Investigate and resolve security incidents, breaches, and violations, ensuring appropriate disciplinary and legal actions are taken.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on security-related matters to senior management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Security Management) or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role, with at least 7 years of experience managing security teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of security protocols, risk management, and industry best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions in high-stress situations.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and standards pertaining to security.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Protection Professional, Certified Fraud Examiner) are a plus.
  • Ability to travel as required.
