Job Description

Anglican Development Services of Mt. Kenya East (ADSMKE) is the Development arm of the Anglican Church of Kenya, working in Mt. Kenya East region. It covers 5 Dioceses of Kirinyaga, Embu, Mbeere, Meru and Marsabit with a vision of a society that enjoys wholesome and dignified living

The Project Accountant will have the following responsibilities:

  • Prepare all the daily financial transactions and the books of accounts and ensure they are appropriately recorded and coded.
  • Compiling and presenting financial reports
  • Consolidation of financial support documents from the field.
  • Paying project expenses and salaries.
  • Monitor all the organization’s financial transactions.
  • Prepare Monthly bank reconciliation reports.
  • Ensure adherence and compliance to the organization’s and project budget.
  • Monitor cash flow and ensure that the Finance and Administration filing system is up to date.
  • Ensure that the related financial transactions comply with the donor requirements, country laws, organization’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Submit on timely basis records for verification and approval by the donor by 5th of Every month.
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls through adherence to the accounting systems and procedures.
  • Provide support in the planning, preparation, monitoring of the organization’s finance department and its annual budget.
  • Ensure the office’s smooth running, including Human Resources, Administration and Procurement issues.
  • Attend and actively participate in relevant workshops and seminars.
  • Ensure quality, consistent, and confidential records keeping at the office.
  • Ensure proper and timely ordering of essential office supplies.
  • Any other duty as assigned by the ADS Kenya Finance Manager.

Qualification and Requirements

  • CPA (K)
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is desirable.
  • Three years’ experience in donor-funded projects is a must.
  • Experience in ERP and other accounting packages is desirable.
